About me and my therapy practice

As a trained integrative psychotherapist, I draw thoughtfully from several therapeutic approaches rather than expecting one model to fit everyone. My work is collaborative, relational and responsive, enabling me to meet you as an individual and focus on what is most useful for you.

I understand that, as children, we often adapt our behaviour to preserve the love, approval or closeness of the people we depend on. These adaptations may have helped us feel safer at the time, sometimes at the cost of our own needs, feelings or sense of self. Over time, they can become harsh inner rules and familiar patterns of behaviour that operate on autopilot, even when they no longer fit the life we are living now.

In therapy, we can bring gentle attention to these automatic patterns and acknowledge the important purpose they once served. Rather than judging or trying to force them away, we can become curious about what they protected you from and whether they are still needed. As awareness grows, old and punishing rules that you did not consciously choose can begin to loosen, creating more freedom to respond differently.

Painful or traumatic experiences can be difficult to bear alone, and it can take time to feel safe enough to share more of yourself. I aim to offer steadiness, trustworthiness and genuine curiosity, allowing our work to develop at a pace that feels manageable. Over time, experiences of honesty and repair within the therapeutic relationship can make it possible to explore emotional pain, uncertainty, freedom, choice and responsibility in a more grounded way.

Before training as a therapist, I worked in financial services, where I gained valuable professional and life experience. Over time, I became increasingly drawn to work with a stronger sense of personal meaning and purpose. This lead me back to my undergraduate degree in Philosophy and to a career in Psychotherapy.

Practice description

I know life can feel complicated and overwhelming at times, and reaching out for support can take a lot of vulnerability. It can be hard to navigate difficult emotions and feelings, and it can be incredibly lonely when you feel misunderstood or unheard.

... But with the right support so much can be achieved.

I'm an integrative therapist with a Masters in Psychotherapy and a Registered member of the BACP. I work with adults (18+) navigating a wide range of issues, including:

Areas of Support

This is not an exhaustive list, but it gives an indication of the support I offer:

· Anxiety and persistent worry

· Trauma, including difficult or painful childhood experiences

· Bereavement, grief and other experiences of loss

· Experiences surrounding abortion

· Relationship difficulties

· OCD-related concerns

· Identity, gender and sexuality

· Self-esteem

· Suicidal thoughts

· Neurodiversity

· Infertility and reproductive concerns including miscarriage

· Pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, including postnatal depression

· Menopause and other life-stage transitions

· Burnout and chronic health conditions

Life becomes even harder to cope with when anxiety or self-doubt take hold, and friendships or relationships can start to feel challenging as well.

Therapy can help to untangle the confusion and provide a relationship that feels safe and non-judgemental. My therapeutic approach is to establish a solid working relationship where we can together explore the experiences and sources of distress.
