Availability
I currently have availability for new counselling clients and offer sessions in person, online or outdoors in nature.
In-person counselling appointments are available in Irvine from Tuesday to Saturday, with additional appointments in Largs on Saturday afternoons.
I offer flexible appointments across the week. This helps me support people with busy or unpredictable schedules, whether that’s due to shift work, caring responsibilities or simply life being full. If you’re unsure what might work, just get in touch — I’m happy to adapt where I can.
I can usually offer an initial appointment within a couple of days.
If you’re thinking about starting counselling, feel free to reach out with any questions. There’s no pressure, just a chance to explore whether it feels like a good fit. I aim to respond to messages within 24 hours.
About me and my therapy practice
If you’re reading this, you might be thinking about talking to someone. I know from personal experience that reaching out can feel like a big, uncertain step. So let me start by saying: I’m really glad you’re here.
I offer a relaxed, down-to-earth space for anyone who’s struggling with… well, life. You don’t need a diagnosis, a big reason or the perfect words. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, burnt out or disconnected. Or maybe you just know something isn’t right. Whatever it is, we can explore it together, at your pace.
I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I don’t believe in trying to fit everyone into the same type of therapy. My approach is shaped around you, what you’re going through and what you need from our sessions. Sometimes that might mean exploring things more deeply, while other times it might be having somewhere to slow down, make sense of things or simply say what you haven’t been able to say elsewhere.
I work with people from all walks of life and have now built up over 2,000 hours of counselling experience. I have particular experience supporting people affected by addiction, trauma, anxiety, ADHD, chronic illness and high-pressure roles, including people working on the front lines of care.
I also have a close connection to the animal-care world through my own working background. Whether it’s veterinary work, rescue or something in between, I understand the emotional toll it can take—the compassion fatigue, grief and pressure to keep going.
I offer counselling in Irvine and Largs, as well as online counselling and outdoor sessions across North Ayrshire. However we work together, the aim is to create a space where you can be yourself without feeling judged, rushed or expected to have everything figured out.
Practice description
Sessions with me aren’t rigid. They’re human. Sometimes they’re serious, sometimes they’re unexpectedly fun, and sometimes you might not know what you want to talk about until you arrive. I’ll meet you wherever you’re at that day, without pressure or judgement.
You can choose how we meet:
• In person in Irvine or Largs
• Outdoors in nature across North Ayrshire
• Online, if that fits your life best
My Irvine counselling room is spacious, comfortable and designed to feel relaxed rather than clinical. There’s a large sofa, soft lighting, plants, a peaceful fish tank and plenty of room to settle in. Drinks and snacks are available too, because counselling can be hard enough without being hungry or thirsty. You’re welcome to sit, lie back, bring a blanket around you or make yourself comfortable in whatever way works for you.
Outdoor counselling isn’t about hiking boots, walking quickly or pushing your limits. We can walk, sit somewhere peaceful or move between indoors and outdoors. I’ve always felt a deep connection to nature and know how helpful it can be to slow down, breathe and have a little more space around you.
Online counselling offers the same relaxed approach from wherever you feel most comfortable and can be particularly helpful around work, health, travel or caring responsibilities.
You don’t have to stick with one format either. You can move between indoor, outdoor and online sessions as your needs change.
Therapy doesn’t have to look or feel one particular way. It just has to feel safe enough to start. Come as you are.
My first session
In our first session, we’ll explore how we might work together. It’s a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and for us both to begin understanding what you’d like from counselling.
You don’t need to prepare anything or have the “right” words, just come as you are. We’ll go at your pace. I may ask some gentle questions to get to know you better, but there’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to.
We’ll talk about what’s brought you here, what you’d like support with and what feels most important for you right now. We can also discuss practical things such as how often we might meet and whether in person, online or outdoor counselling would suit you best.
I don’t carry out a formal assessment or ask you to complete questionnaires in the first session unless we’ve agreed that this might be useful. For me, it’s more about beginning to build a genuine connection and creating a space where you feel comfortable enough to explore what’s going on.
Your first session is charged at the same rate as any following sessions. There’s no separate assessment fee.
If you’d prefer a quick chat first, I offer a free 15-minute introductory phone call. There’s no pressure to book afterwards. It’s simply a chance to ask any questions and see whether it feels like a good fit.
