About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Benjamin — a humanistic integrative counsellor. Thanks for stopping by.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent over ten years working in the arts. That creative path exposed me to a wide range of people and perspectives; from artists and designers to those exploring identity, expression, and emotion through visual and sensory forms. It was an environment where I learned to value the many different ways we communicate who we are and how we feel, especially when words aren’t always enough.

As a humanistic integrative counsellor, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Working integratively means I draw from different styles of therapy depending on what’s most supportive for you — whether that’s person-centred, psychodynamic, or more creative ways of working. Some clients benefit from understanding how past experiences influence their present; others might need a space that’s more grounded in the here and now. Together, we’ll tune into what feels right.

At the heart of my work is collaboration. I see therapy as something we shape together, checking in on what’s working and what might need to shift.

While I always aim to offer the essential foundations of safety, empathy, and non-judgment, I also believe in the power of playfulness, curiosity, and gentle challenge. Therapy doesn’t have to be heavy all the time. Sometimes it’s in the lightness, the laughter, or playfulness, that insight and change start to emerge.

In addition to my counselling work, I’m currently undertaking a MSc in Psychology, which continues to inform my practice through behavioural neuroscience amongst other psychology based approaches.

Whether you’re coming to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, unsure, or just curious — you’re welcome here. My role isn’t to ‘fix’ you, but to support you in becoming more connected with yourself and your own capacity for change.

If you’d like to have a conversation about starting therapy, I’d be glad to hear from you.
