About me and my therapy practice

I work with LGBTQ+ adults. My approach is reflective, relational and psychodynamic, which means we pay attention to what has shaped your experience over time: patterns that repeat, things that feel stuck, and ways of relating that have become hard to live with.

People come to me about all sorts of things, including relationships, sex and sexuality, identity, and grief and loss. Some arrive with something specific in mind. Others just feel that something is not working the way it used to. You do not need to come with a clear story or know exactly where to start. We work at a pace that lets something new be noticed.

I have particular experience working with gay men and trans people.

Practice description

People come for different reasons. Some feel caught in anxiety, shame or self-criticism. Others notice difficulties in relationships, identity, intimacy or belonging. Often there is a sense that familiar ways of coping are no longer working.

The work is not organised around fixing or managing symptoms, but around understanding how these experiences have developed and what they may be responding to. Therapy is a place to think about this together, over time.

My first session

A first session is a chance to start talking and to see how it feels to work together. There is nothing to prepare and no assessment to get through. You do not need to arrive knowing what you want to work on.

Some people come with something specific in mind. Others just have a sense that something is not working as it once did. Both are fine, and we begin with whatever is there.

Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly, and my fee is £80. I have space for up to two lower-fee, longer-term places, offered on a limited basis and discussed at the start.

Before a first session I offer a free initial conversation of around 20 minutes, to see whether working together feels right.
