About me and my therapy practice
Hello. You might be here because you are struggling with difficult thoughts and emotions and you need someone to talk to in order to help you make sense of it and to find some relief. I hope that I might be able to help. I am a psychotherapist working with adults in weekly talking therapy, both in person and online.
I practise psychodynamic therapy, also known as psychoanalytic therapy, which was formed and continuously honed since the early 1900s, informing the development of many other kinds of therapies since. I provide a confidential space for you to come and talk about anything on your mind, whether that's something from your past, something that is happening currently, or something you've dreamed about. The aim of the therapy is to take time to discover and understand the layers of your mind; how you have learnt to interact with the world and people around you via the experiences in your past, and how that affects your life now.
Pyschodynamic therapy can help with the full range of mental health difficulties, from depression, overwhelm or anxiety to problems in relationships or at work, or from difficulties with OCD, to historic or recent traumatic experiences. The list is not exhaustive. Our task is to find the heart of your discomfort so we work with your thoughts and feelings to think about what might have happened that may have caused any symptoms you may be wrestling with. This understanding and processing can ease symptoms over time, bringing profound long-term relief and a sense of inner strength and peace.
Practice description
I qualified as a psychodynamic psychotherapist at the internationally renowned Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust on a 5 year training with my clinical placements all within NHS adult complex mental health outpatient units. I also have experience in military environments and the charity sector. I am accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and I am a member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), and I adhere to their code of ethics.
I have a private, quiet and comfortable practice room close to Marlborough, Pewsey, Burbage, Tidworth and Andover and the surrounding villages. There is free parking directly outside. Once we have arranged a time to meet, I will send you the address and directions to my practice room.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch.

My first session
I offer a free telephone call of around 10 minutes where we can have a brief chat, and if you like, we can see if we can find a time to meet.
Before therapy begins there are usually two consultation sessions which last around 90 minutes. I may suggest we have more than two consultations to give us time to understand if this kind of therapy is the right fit, and to see how the therapy sits with you between the sessions before we commit to regular sessions together. Sometimes the opportunity to talk and think about your life in the consultation sessions can feel like enough for you for now.
If we agree to begin therapy together after the consultation sessions, we will meet at the same time and place each week.
