About me and my therapy practice

Welcome

You have found a unique, Person-Centred Counselling service for adults, offered in-person from my private yurt near Collieston, Aberdeenshire, outdoors via Walk and Talk through local coastal countryside with sea views, or online UK-wide.

My practice is built on the belief that when we are truly heard and accepted, we find the strength to navigate even the most turbulent seasons of life. I hold a safe, non-judgmental space so you can explore your thoughts, process feelings, and find your own path forward. You do not have to carry this alone.

I am a Person-Centred counsellor and Psychotherapist with a PGDip in Person-Centred Counselling and am a Registered Accredited Member of the BACP - a credential reflecting both rigorous professional training and years of clinical experience.

Practice description

My path to counselling has been shaped by a deep appreciation for the human story, language, and the natural world. With an MA in History of Art, I began my career in media and the arts before moving into work with children and families as my own four children grew up here in Aberdeenshire. That experience gave me a deep sensitivity to human development, the therapeutic power of play, and how much a nurturing environment matters, qualities I bring directly to my adult practice.

Having lived near Collieston for many years, I feel a strong bond with this coastal landscape. I chose to practice from my yurt sanctuary because it offers a quiet, grounding refuge away from the noise of daily life. Complete with a cosy wood-burning stove and surrounding nature. You may see our ponies grazing or free-ranging chickens nearby, it provides a peaceful, reassuring setting for our work. Whether we meet in the yurt, walk through the coastal countryside, or connect online, my aim remains the same: to offer a steady, empathetic presence as you rediscover your footing.

My voluntary work with GREC in Aberdeen, including their Working with Translators training, heightened my sensitivity to the nuances of language and communication. I appreciate how each of us finds unique ways to articulate our inner experience, and how vital it is to feel genuinely understood whatever language or medium we use.

No two journeys are the same. I stay attuned to your specific needs so that what you take away from each session and therapy as a whole is a clearer sense of direction, deeper self-acceptance, and a return to feeling like yourself again.

Empower yourself. Be you.

My first session

How It Works: 3 Simple Steps

I aim to make starting therapy as transparent and straightforward as possible:

Step 1 – Initial Contact: Email me to request a free, 20-minute consultation held online. This gives us a chance to meet, discuss how I work, and address any questions you have.

Step 2 – Confirmation & Agreement: If it feels like a good fit, we will arrange your first full session. We will agree on your preferred setting (Yurt, Walk & Talk with sea views, or Online), along with the date and time. I will email you our therapeutic agreement to sign and return.

Step 3 – Your First Session: Session fees are payable in advance to hold your space. When you arrive, there is no pressure to "perform" or know exactly what to say, we will take things entirely at your own pace.

Tailoring Your Experience

In-Person Yurt: A quiet, confidential sanctuary in my garden near Collieston.
