Availability
I currently have a small amount of availability for new clients, both in person at my room on King’s Parade in Cambridge and online via Zoom.
My hours are flexible. I work Tuesday to Friday, with some Saturdays available too, and I can often offer early morning appointments as well as later ones, up to 7.30pm.
About me and my therapy practice
For a long time, you’ve probably managed. From the outside, things hold together. You get through the days, you look after the people who need you, you keep going.
But something underneath has been asking for attention. Maybe it’s a low hum of anxiety that never quite switches off. Maybe it’s grief, or a change you didn’t choose, or the slow realisation that the way you’ve always coped isn’t working any more. Maybe you’ve recently understood something about yourself a late diagnosis, a pattern that suddenly makes sense - and you’re not sure what to do with it.
And you’ve carried most of it alone. Partly because there hasn’t been room to do otherwise, and partly because it’s hard to know who to trust with the tender things.
It doesn’t have to stay that way.
I’m Tami, a psychotherapeutic counsellor, and my practice is called being.with. The name holds what I believe therapy is really for: not being fixed or talked out of how you feel, but having someone stay alongside you while you make sense of it. I work in a relational way, drawing mainly on Internal Family Systems - the idea that the parts of us that struggle are not problems to get rid of, but parts worth getting to know.
I won’t sit in silence and leave you guessing, and I won’t hide behind jargon. You can expect me to be warm, honest, and steady, and to take real care with what you trust me with.
You don’t need the right words or a clear problem to begin. Wherever you’re starting from is a fine place to start. We can take it from there, together.
Practice description
being.with. is my private practice, based at the Cambridge Therapy Collective on King’s Parade, right in the centre of town. I also work online over Zoom, which suits people who are juggling a lot or who simply feel more at ease in their own space.
Sessions are 50 minutes and usually weekly, at least to begin with. That rhythm helps the work build and gives whatever you’re carrying a steady, reliable place to land. Some people come for a focused stretch around something specific; others stay longer and go deeper. We’ll talk openly about what’s useful for you, and there’s no expectation to stay longer than you need.
You don’t have to be in crisis to come, and you don’t have to have it all worked out before you get in touch. Wherever you’re starting from is a fine place to start.
My first session
The best place to start is to get in touch through my website. From there we can arrange a free 20-minute Zoom call before booking anything. It’s a no-pressure way to talk a little about what’s bringing you here, ask anything you’d like, and get a feel for whether we’re a good fit. If it doesn’t feel right, that’s completely fine, and I’m happy to suggest other people who might suit you better.
The first full session is a little different from those that follow. It’s partly a chance for us to get to know each other, and partly a space for you to say, in your own words and at your own pace, what’s been going on and what’s brought you to therapy now. There’s no form to fill in and no assessment to get through. We’ll talk, and I’ll ask some questions to understand the fuller picture, but you only ever share as much as feels manageable on the day.
We’ll also cover a few practical things: how I work, confidentiality and its limits, fees and cancellations, and how often we might meet. I want you to leave that first session with a clear sense of what working together would actually be like.
The first session is charged at my usual rate. You’re under no obligation to book further sessions afterwards. Take whatever time you need to decide.
