About me and my therapy practice
⸻
I’m a BACP-registered humanistic counsellor with lived experience of adoption and a deep understanding of addiction, recovery, and the lifelong impact of attachment trauma. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space for adults navigating complex emotional histories – especially around identity, shame, grief, and feeling disconnected from self or others. My integrative approach draws on Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis, and Gestalt, and is rooted in the belief that healing happens through real, honest relationship. I also bring lived insight into the 12-step philosophy and have worked in frontline addiction and mental health services, alongside facilitating therapeutic groups for abstinent and non abstinent clients. Whether you feel stuck, angry, numb, or simply exhausted from surviving alone, you are welcome here just as you are. You don’t need to have the right words – just a willingness to begin. I’ll meet you there.
Practice description
How I practice
My practice is integrative and relational, which means I draw from a range of humanistic approaches to meet you as a whole person – not a set of symptoms or a story to be fixed. I’m grounded in Person-Centred Therapy, where empathy, acceptance, and authenticity guide our work; Transactional Analysis, which helps explore relational patterns and inner dialogue; and Gestalt Therapy, which supports present-moment awareness and emotional contact. These are the frameworks that inform me – but it’s the real, human relationship between us that makes therapy work.
I hold space with curiosity, compassion, and gentle challenge – offering you the chance to slow down, hear yourself more clearly, and explore what might be blocking growth or connection. I welcome all parts of you into the room – the angry, uncertain, grieving, or guarded ones – and we make space for them to be understood, not judged.
I also bring knowledge of the 12-step recovery model, and experience working in addiction and mental health services, which allows me to hold recovery journeys and relapse processes with care and insight. My lived experience of adoption and identity questioning informs my practice deeply – I understand what it’s like to grow up not knowing where you belong, and how that can echo into adulthood. Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you – it’s about reconnecting with your truth, your choices, and your capacity to heal.
