About me and my therapy practice
⸻
I’m a BACP-registered humanistic counsellor with lived experience of adoption and a deep understanding of addiction, recovery, and the lifelong impact of attachment trauma. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space for adults navigating complex emotional histories – especially around identity, shame, grief, and feeling disconnected from self or others. My integrative approach draws on Person-Centred Therapy, Transactional Analysis, and Gestalt, and is rooted in the belief that healing happens through real, honest relationship. I also bring lived insight into the 12-step philosophy and have worked in frontline addiction and mental health services, alongside facilitating therapeutic groups for abstinent and non abstinent clients. Whether you feel stuck, angry, numb, or simply exhausted from surviving alone, you are welcome here just as you are. You don’t need to have the right words – just a willingness to begin. I’ll meet you there.
Practice description
How I practice
My practice is integrative and relational, which means I draw from a range of humanistic approaches to meet you as a whole person – not a set of symptoms or a story to be fixed. I’m grounded in Person-Centred Therapy, where empathy, acceptance, and authenticity guide our work; Transactional Analysis, which helps explore relational patterns and inner dialogue; and Gestalt Therapy, which supports present-moment awareness and emotional contact. These are the frameworks that inform me – but it’s the real, human relationship between us that makes therapy work.
I hold space with curiosity, compassion, and gentle challenge – offering you the chance to slow down, hear yourself more clearly, and explore what might be blocking growth or connection. I welcome all parts of you into the room – the angry, uncertain, grieving, or guarded ones – and we make space for them to be understood, not judged.
I also bring knowledge of the 12-step recovery model, and experience working in addiction and mental health services, which allows me to hold recovery journeys and relapse processes with care and insight. My lived experience of adoption and identity questioning informs my practice deeply – I understand what it’s like to grow up not knowing where you belong, and how that can echo into adulthood. Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you – it’s about reconnecting with your truth, your choices, and your capacity to heal.

About me and my therapy practice
Perhaps you have spent much of your life adapting to other people—trying to get things right, keeping the peace, or holding everything together while quietly struggling yourself. You may feel deeply, think constantly, or find it difficult to explain why everyday life sometimes asks so much of you.
You might be looking for somewhere you can finally exhale. Somewhere you do not have to perform, minimise what hurts, or arrive with everything neatly understood.
I’m Freddie, a BACP-registered integrative counsellor. I offer a warm, thoughtful space where we can begin with you as you are, and with whatever has brought you here.
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling and a Level 5 Diploma in Attachment-Based Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I draw on Person-Centred Counselling, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt, alongside an attachment-based understanding of how our relationships and experiences shape us.
Together, we can explore how you have learned to protect yourself, what happens when you need closeness or support, and why familiar patterns can be difficult to change. We will make room for your history while staying connected to what you need in your life now.
I also work with neurodivergent adults. You may be making sense of a diagnosis later in life, wondering whether you are neurodivergent, or feeling exhausted by the effort of fitting in. There is room here to explore overwhelm, masking, sensitivity to rejection, and the painful gap between how capable you appear and how hard things can feel inside.
I am interested in understanding your individual experience.
We can talk about what helps you feel comfortable in sessions and shape our work together around your needs.
My hope is that counselling becomes a place where you feel less alone with what you carry, and more able to understand yourself with kindness. A place where you can begin to recognise your needs, find your voice and discover greater choice in how you live and relate.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face counselling in my home office in Datchet, near Windsor, as well as online and telephone sessions for adults.
People come to me for many reasons: anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief, low self-worth, sexual abuse, emotional overwhelm, or a sense of having lost touch with themselves. My private practice also includes working with substance use, addiction and recovery.
I have a particular interest in supporting adult adoptees / care experienced and people affected by early separation and disrupted relationships. Adoption can bring questions about identity, belonging, loss and family relationships that are not always easy to speak about elsewhere. All of your feelings are welcome—including those that seem contradictory or difficult to explain.
My work with neurodivergent adults offers space to explore how you experience the world, what drains you, what supports you, and what you may have learned to hide. We can also make room for the feelings that come with recognising yourself differently later in life.
In our sessions, we might explore something happening now, notice a pattern in your relationships, or stay gently with a feeling that has not yet found words. You do not have to tell your whole story at once. We can begin wherever feels possible.
I bring warmth, honesty and genuine curiosity to our work. I will listen carefully, offer reflections and work alongside you as you begin to make sense of your experience and consider what you want to change.
If something here feels familiar, you are welcome to get in touch. You do not need a perfectly worded enquiry—a few words about what brings you to counselling are enough to begin.
