About me and my therapy practice

Do you feel stuck in unhelpful patterns or behaviours and want to change how you relate to the world? Maybe you find it hard to manage big emotions like anger or sadness, become dysregulated and overwhelmed when life gets stressful, or find yourself saying “yes” when you’d rather say “no.” Perhaps you’re feeling burnt out or struggling with the pressure to get everything right while never feeling good enough.

Asking for help is a healthy and natural response to life’s challenges - whether it’s anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, past trauma, bereavement, or simply a sense that life has lost meaning and purpose.

My philosophy is rooted in the belief that we all have the innate capacity to heal and grow - but we don’t have to figure it out alone. Feeling safe, seen, and supported in this process can be life-changing.

About me

Having experienced divorce and the challenges of creating a blended family myself, I understand first-hand how complex and emotionally demanding these transitions can be. This insight allows me to offer genuine empathy and a grounded, realistic approach to supporting clients navigating relationship changes, co-parenting, and rebuilding life after separation.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the legal profession, gaining a deep understanding of the pressures and expectations that often accompany corporate life. This experience helps me support clients who juggle high levels of responsibility, stress, or self-criticism, and who want to find a healthier sense of balance and fulfilment both in and outside of work.

Outside private practice, my time as a Samaritan gave me the privilege of listening to people from all walks of life at moments of deep distress and vulnerability. This strengthened my ability to be fully present, to listen without judgment, and to hold space for whatever someone is going through. I bring that same compassion, patience, and respect for each person’s unique story into my counselling work.

Practice description

I am a BACP registered therapist with a first Class BSc in Humanistic Counselling.

How I work

I work humanistically, meaning that although our sessions will be guided by me, they are led by you.

My approach combines elements of Gestalt, Person-Centred, and Transactional Analysis therapies. From a Gestalt perspective, I pay attention to what’s happening for you in the present moment and how your emotions, thoughts, and body are connected. The Person-Centred approach brings warmth, empathy, and respect for your autonomy, creating a non-judgmental space where you can explore at your own pace. Transactional Analysis helps us understand patterns in your relationships and the ways you communicate, offering insight into how past experiences may still shape how you relate to yourself and others today. Together, these approaches support greater self-awareness, choice, and personal growth.

However, beyond these theoretical labels, what underpins everything is establishing a strong therapeutic relationship between us and working collaboratively to achieve your goals.

Fundamentally, I believe that there is real value in talking to someone who has the skill and experience to listen in a way that allows us to feel understood, seen and heard - perhaps for the first time. I am committed to fostering a warm, inclusive relationship based on respect, curiosity and acceptance.

My first session

This is how we might work together:

Step 1: Enquiry - FREE initial consultation

I understand that taking that first step to seeking therapy can be daunting, but I try to make this as easy as possible by offering a FREE initial 15-minute call as an opportunity to learn more about my approach and ask any questions you may have.

My goal is to ensure you feel informed, supported, and confident before taking the next step. If you then wish to proceed, we can arrange an initial session.

Step 2: First session - at HALF PRICE

Our first full session gives you the opportunity to explain your situation and to see how therapy feels.

It is also a chance to see if we are a good fit for one another - a fundamental factor in successful therapy and why I offer this session at HALF PRICE as we explore this together.

There is no pressure to begin regular therapy beyond this point.

Step 3: Continuing Therapy

Should you wish to start regular therapy following our initial session, we will meet for 50-minutes on a weekly basis.

After the first few sessions, we will have a review to see how you are finding our work together. We will discuss whether you’d like to continue working with an open-ended agreement, for a fixed number of sessions or to end therapy.
