About me and my therapy practice

My specialism is working with adults who seek remedies for falling into various forms of psychological distress and tension. If you are suffering from generalised forms of anxiety or depression, this is often indicative of other issues. We'll explore these, while responding to life's most essential question: who am I?

I began my journey as an integrative therapist after a long career in the film and television industry.

I use a client first and challenging approach. I tend to focus initially on clients feelings in the "here and now”, but I regularly work across other forms of therapy including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy and humanistic psychoanalysis.

Therapy is exploration. The process can be like an archeological dig. Uncovering truth and meaning can be difficult, but my job is to guide you to do it safely and at the pace which is right for you.

During this process we tend to oscillate between issues experienced both at surface level, and at depth, as we move backwards towards past issued or forwards towards a more goal orientated future.

Practice description

I have experience working with low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, addiction, neurodiversity, issues related to workplace stress, relationship problems, life transitions and attitudes to food. I have also experience with relatives of survivors of abuse, and guilt and shame associated with these.

My approach is foregrounded by kindness, to yourself and each other. I bring together elements of body based (somatic) psychotherapy
, psychodynamic therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). We may use a range of methods influenced by psychoanalysis too. These include free association, dreamwork, repairing the "inner child", exposure therapy and meditative practices.

I offer in person sessions in Forest Hill from Monday to Friday. I also offer online sessions, conducted via Google Meet.

I have a PGDip from the University of East London, Integrative Counselling and Coaching.
