About me and my therapy practice
I became a therapist because I've been where you are, seeking support. Many years ago, I went through a really hard time after becoming a mum, overwhelmed, low, disconnected, and not quite recognising myself anymore. The support I got changed things for me, and it's the reason I do this work now.
So when I say I get it, I mean it. Not in a polished, professional-distance kind of way. In a real, human, I've been through it myself kind of way.
I'm not your typical therapist. You'll find me in comfy clothes, in a room that feels more like a living room than a clinic. I'm warm but honest, and I find a little humour makes even the most difficult things a little easier to digest. It's the genuine relationship between us that makes therapy actually work.
My clients often say sessions feel like talking to someone who finally gets it. That's what I'm here for.
Practice description
I work from my practice in Leek, Staffordshire, and online anywhere in the UK.
I draw on a mix of approaches including psychodynamic, attachment-based, person-centred, and CBT, not because I follow a formula, but because different people need different things. I'll adapt to you, not the other way around.
Sessions are 50 minutes and held weekly. Before we begin I offer a free 10 minute intro call so you can get a feel for whether I'm the right fit. No pressure, no commitment, just a chance to talk.
I'm a registered member of the BACP and work within their Ethical Framework. I have seven years of university-level training, including a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, and I've worked within a trauma charity alongside my private practice.
My first session
The first session is low-key, I promise. We'll have a conversation about what's brought you here and what you're hoping for, but you don't need a clear story or the right words. Most people don't have those yet, and that's fine.
It's also your chance to get a feel for me and how I work. If it doesn't feel right, that's okay too. Finding the right therapist matters more than just finding any therapist.
If you're carrying trauma, still feeling the effects of a difficult childhood, navigating life with ADHD, struggling in your relationship, wondering if you'll ever find your person, or finding parenting harder than anyone tells you it's supposed to be, this is the kind of work I do. We'll make sense of it together, at your pace, without judgement.
