About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Carly. I'm a therapist based in East and North London, offering online and in-person sessions.

I often work with people who are outwardly functioning well, yet internally struggle with anxiety, low mood, self-criticism, emotional stuckness, or repeating relationship patterns. Many are seeking to understand themselves more deeply, rather than simply manage symptoms, and may sense that something isn't quite sitting right inside even when life appears fine from the outside.

Some feel caught in familiar patterns; others feel disconnected inside. Whatever brings you, we'll approach it with curiosity and care.

The things we struggle with usually make sense once we understand where they came from. When you see yourself more clearly, and with compassion, new choices begin to open. I work integratively, with a primarily psychodynamic and relational approach.

I believe it takes time to get to know someone deeply. As we work together, we may begin to notice patterns in your relationships, emotions, or ways of coping that may previously have gone unnoticed. Sometimes being seen more clearly can feel uncomfortable or exposing at first, but it can also create space for greater understanding, connection, and change.

I'm a steady, warm presence, but not a passive one. I'll share what I notice and help you find your own way forward. You do not need to have the right words. We can find them together.

I offer a 50-minute initial assessment at a reduced rate (£15.50), so you can get a feel for me and the space, and we can decide together whether it feels like a good fit. If you'd like to arrange one, I'd be glad to hear from you.

Practice description

I am BACP registered and hold a first-class degree in Counselling from the University of East London. I also have an MA in International Relations from St Andrews and an MSc in Human Rights from the LSE. This earlier path reflects a longstanding interest in how power, identity and social context shape us. These themes continue to inform my clinical work.

Before training as a therapist, I worked as a recovery worker at St Mungo's, supporting people experiencing homelessness with high and complex needs. This gave me sustained experience with trauma, addiction and severe mental health difficulties, and deepened my understanding of how psychological distress is shaped by systemic disadvantage and exclusion.

The fist step is an assessment session that is offered at a reduced rate of £15.50.
