About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Danielle, an integrative therapist and mindfulness practitioner, and founder of The Journey Mind — a space for women who are doing all the things, yet quietly running on empty.
I work with women who might appear to have it all together on the outside, but inside feel anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves. Whether you’re navigating burnout, struggling to find balance, or simply sensing that something isn’t quite right, therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with who you are beneath the busyness.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth and collaborative. I aim to create a safe, compassionate space where you can be fully yourself — where all parts of you are welcome. I see therapy as a journey we take together: one that supports you in understanding your patterns, softening your self-criticism, and learning to live with greater presence and ease.
Before retraining as a therapist, I worked for many years as a Solicitor and then a Global Human Resources Director, which deepened my understanding of the pressures women face to perform, achieve and “keep it all together.” My background in mindfulness and embodied practice also shapes the way I work — helping clients reconnect with the wisdom of the body as well as the mind.
I understand that starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’re used to being the one others turn to for support. My hope is that our sessions offer you a place to rest, explore, and rediscover your inner steadiness.
Practice description
My integrative approach blends evidence-based psychological models with mindfulness and somatic awareness. Depending on your needs, I may draw from:
• Person-centred approaches
• MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy)
• MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction)
• Somatic and body-based awareness
• Parts work and trauma-informed perspectives
This creates a grounded, holistic style of therapy that helps you understand your thoughts, emotions and physical sensations as connected parts of one whole system.
My first session
Before beginning therapy, I offer a free initial consultation. This takes place prior to the first session and provides an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy, ask any questions, and consider whether working together feels like the right fit.
The first therapy session is a full, paid session and is slightly more structured than ongoing sessions. It provides space to explore your current concerns in more depth, alongside relevant personal history, including relationships, work, health, and previous therapeutic experiences. This helps to clarify the focus and direction of the work.
During the first session, we will also cover practical and ethical aspects of therapy, including confidentiality, boundaries, frequency of sessions, and how we might work together. Where appropriate, I may ask some assessment questions to support a shared understanding of what you would like from therapy, while ensuring the pace feels considered and appropriate.
Although the first session has a focus on assessment and contracting, it is also a therapeutic space. You are not expected to share anything you are not ready to discuss, and sessions are guided collaboratively with sensitivity to what feels most important for you at that time.
