About me and my therapy practice

My approach to therapy is person-centred, which means I believe that you are the expert in your own life and experiences. My role is to offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted for who you are.

I believe that therapy gives us an opportunity to step back from the demands, expectations and experiences of everyday life and take time to truly reconnect with ourselves. Sometimes, when life becomes overwhelming, we can lose sight of who we are, what we need and what is important to us.

My way of working is about gently exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace, without judgement or pressure. I will walk alongside you, offering empathy, understanding and acceptance, while giving you the freedom to explore whatever feels important to you.

For me, therapy is about 'stepping back from yourself, so that you can step more fully into yourself' gaining a deeper understanding of who you are, what you feel and what you need, and finding a greater sense of confidence in moving forward.

I don't believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Every person and every journey is different, so I will work with you as an individual and at a pace that feels right for you.

You don't have to have all the answers before coming to therapy. Sometimes, simply having someone genuinely listen and provide a safe space to explore can be the beginning of meaningful change.

Practice description

I offer a warm, welcoming and confidential space where you can feel safe to talk openly about whatever may be bringing you to therapy.

I work predominantly online, offering therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own space. I find that online therapy can provide flexibility and convenience, making it easier to fit sessions around work, family and everyday life.

I also offer face-to-face sessions in Bedfordshire where this is preferred and can be accommodated. I understand that everyone has different needs and preferences, so I aim to be as flexible as possible when arranging sessions.

My practice is person-centred, and I believe that the relationship we build in therapy is an important part of the process. I offer a non-judgemental, accepting and compassionate space where you can take the time to explore what you are experiencing and what you may want to change.

My aim is to work alongside you, at your pace, helping you to step back from yourself so that you can begin to step more fully into yourself.

My first session

Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially when you are meeting someone for the first time. My aim is to make the process feel as comfortable, safe and welcoming as possible.

Before committing to therapy, I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation. This gives us an opportunity to meet, talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy, and for you to ask any questions about how I work.

This initial conversation gives us both the opportunity to consider whether we feel comfortable working together and whether my approach feels right for you. There is no pressure or obligation to continue.

If we both feel that we could work well together, we can arrange your first full therapy session. During our first session, we will take some time to get to know each other and explore what has brought you to therapy. We will also complete an initial assessment form together, which helps me to understand a little more about you, your circumstances and what you would like support with. We can take our time with this, and you can ask questions or discuss anything that you feel is important.

You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with , there is no expectation that you need to have everything worked out or be ready to talk about everything straight away.

My person-centred approach means that I will listen to you with empathy, acceptance and without judgement. We will work at your pace, exploring whatever feels important to you and allowing the therapeutic relationship to develop naturally.

I see therapy as an opportunity to step back from the demands, expectations and experiences of everyday life and create space to reconnect with yourself.

My hope is that from our very first conversation, you feel genuinely heard, respected and accepted, and that together we can create a safe space where you can begin to understand yourself more deeply and explore the changes you would like to make.
