About me and my therapy practice

Struggling with life can feel isolating and overwhelming. Finding someone who understands you is an important first step. I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you can explore what’s happening and begin to find your own way through.

How I can help

Through many life experiences - work, travel, teaching and family life - I've come to genuinely value people and the courage it takes to ask for help.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, whether it's multiple pressures building up, a relationship struggle, work stress, grief and loss, or past experiences quietly resurfacing.

You might feel stuck, hopeless, struggling to sleep, tearful, angry - or turning to ways of coping that worry you.

I offer a safe, peaceful space where you can explore difficult feelings, be truly heard and feel understood. When trust feels broken - in others or in yourself - I will help you find relief and begin to rebuild.

Through compassionate support you'll start to feel stronger, sleep better and carry less worry. Life becomes clearer, self-criticism fades, and confidence returns.

That healing brings growth - helping you make the changes you want and move toward a more fulfilling life.

My Journey:

For nearly 30 years I taught in secondary schools, working closely with young people, families and parents navigating special needs and neurodiversity.

That work gave me a deep appreciation of the emotional weight families carry - the frustration of negotiating systems that don't always see your child, the strain on relationships, and the quiet toll of putting everyone else first.

I also know from the inside what a demanding, high-responsibility job can do to a person. Teaching gave me so much, but over time it became oppressive - I felt trapped by the very thing I'd once loved.

Through my own counselling, I discovered person-centred therapy and knew immediately this was my path. That experience of feeling genuinely stuck and finding a way through now shapes everything about how I work.

Practice description

My Approach:

I've learned that our lowest moments can propel us toward places we never imagined possible.

Person-centred therapy is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: you are the expert on your own life. Carl Rogers, who founded this approach, said "the curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."

When we can truly face who we are - the good, the bad and the ugly - we can begin to heal and change for the better. I believe self-acceptance is one of the most powerful tools in that process.

My role isn't to diagnose, advise or fix you. It's to create a space where you can explore yourself freely.

In practice, this means:

  • You talk about what matters to you, not what you "should" discuss
  • I accept you completely, where you are now
  • I understand your experience from your perspective, not mine
  • I won't hide behind a professional mask - I'll be real, honest and present
  • I follow your direction, trusting you'll naturally work through what you need

Practical Details:

I work online

I offer a free initial conversation - no pressure, no judgement - so we can decide if we're the right fit.

My Qualifications:

I'm a qualified person-centred counsellor and registered BACP member, working within their ethical framework. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

Getting started

Starting therapy takes courage, and it's okay to feel uncertain. You don't need everything figured out - just a sense that something needs to change.

With deeper self-knowledge and self-acceptance, you can face a brighter future.

If you're ready to explore yours, I'd be honoured to walk alongside you.

I'm always happy to answer questions. Take that step and I'll arrange a free consultation.

My first session

Our initial meeting is a relaxed conversation about what's brought you here and what you'd like to explore.

Share as much or as little as feels comfortable. We'll discuss your hopes for therapy with no pressure or expectations - just a supportive space to help you decide if this feels right.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Instead, we’ll go at your pace, in a way that feels supportive and meaningful to you. This could involve gently exploring your past, focusing on the present, or finding ways to manage difficult emotions day-to-day.

I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy, tailored to what works best for you.
