About me and my therapy practice

I'm a humanistic psychotherapeutic counsellor, working with adults (18+). My practice is rooted in person-centred values, which means I place your experience at the heart of our work together. I offer a warm, accepting space where whatever you bring is welcome, and where you can explore yourself without fear of judgement.

Practice description

My work is guided by the belief that many of the struggles we face, such as anxiety, depression or emotional distress, often stem from earlier experiences that felt overwhelming or unsafe. With the right environment and support, these experiences can be understood, integrated and transformed into a more balanced and fulfilling life.

I don't come with ready-made answers but instead offer a space where we can be open and real with one another, thinking together, exploring honestly and finding meaning in what emerges. My approach is intentionally non-directive, supporting you to discover your own meanings, values and ways of being.

My identity shapes my practice. I am a Persian woman, a mother and an immigrant: experiences that bring sensitivity to issues of difference, belonging and the complexities of identity. Before retraining as a therapist, I worked over 30 years in art and design, specialising in furniture and interior design. That creative sensibility still informs my practice, as I aim to listen with care, intuition and attention to what often goes unspoken.

I welcome clients of all genders, sexualities, relationship styles, cultures and identities. My commitment is to offer a safe, inclusive and affirming space where you can bring every part of yourself.

Professional Background:

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in line with their Ethical Framework, ensuring that my practice is grounded in respect, integrity and care. I maintain professional indemnity insurance and engage in regular clinical supervision.

I trained at the University of Brighton, earning a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy. Alongside my private practice, I work at Psychology Sussex in Hove and am a bereavement volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Support. I have experience working with the NHS and Anxiety UK.

My first session

The first session is a chance for us to meet and see if we're a good fit. There's no pressure to have everything figured out. Some people arrive knowing exactly what they want to talk about, others aren't quite sure where to begin. Both are absolutely fine. We'll explore what's brought you to therapy, what you're hoping for from our work together, and I'll explain how therapy works, including practicalities like confidentiality. You're not obligated to continue after the first session, therapy only works if it feels right for you. If you'd like to proceed, we'll arrange your next session together.
