About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Nasreen, a psychodynamic psychotherapist and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
We all experience moments where we feel low, lost or even ready to give up entirely. When unhelpful patterns persist, therapy can be a useful way of considering the root causes of thoughts, feelings, behaviours and relationships leading to distress in our lives. My role is to offer a calm and reflective space to bring your whole self (even the uncomfortable parts) so that together we can begin to think about the challenges that you’re experiencing.
Practice description
Psychodynamic psychotherapy encourages individuals to return to their past experiences and earliest relationships, as a way of understanding how this has shaped who they are today and how they approach obstacles as adults. The therapeutic relationship therefore serves as a tool for healing, allowing the therapist to recognise the client’s struggles and explore how this might be holding them back. I believe that this can bring about positive change to your emotional development and self-understanding in the long term.
I have worked with individuals facing a range of issues from anxiety, depression and stress to grief and loss, low self-esteem and relationship problems. I have a Masters degree in Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy, alongside varied experience working in different organisations and as a private practitioner. My approach is to create a safe, nurturing and non-judgemental environment so that we can work at a pace that feels most comfortable to you.
My first session
I offer a free, initial consultation (up to 50 minutes) to meet and consider whether we would be the right fit for one another. This can take place either in-person or online, ideally in the format that you’d like to continue with. On a personal note, I have felt and witnessed the benefits of receiving the right support so, regardless of whether or not I am a part of your therapeutic journey, I sincerely hope that it can bring you the confidence, growth and inner peace that you seek.
