About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes you keep everything together on the outside while something inside feels heavy, tangled, or quietly painful. Maybe you’re carrying echoes of difficult early experiences, or you’ve learned to be strong for everyone else but don’t know where to put your own feelings. Perhaps you feel disconnected from yourself, unsure how to move forward, or simply tired of managing alone.
Counselling offers a place to pause. A place where you don’t have to perform, explain, or minimise what you’re feeling. When someone sits with you and really listens to you, it can bring a sense of steadiness that’s hard to find anywhere else. In that kind of attuned relationship, it becomes easier to understand what’s been shaping you and to notice the parts of your life that need care, clarity, or healing.
You might be navigating anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, low self-worth, or patterns you can’t quite make sense of. Whatever you’re carrying, you don’t have to carry it alone. Counselling is a chance to be met with warmth and understanding, and to begin reconnecting with the parts of you that have been overlooked, silenced, or exhausted for too long.
Practice description
I’m a fully qualified trauma-informed, person-centred counsellor based in the welcoming seaside town of Hayle in Cornwall.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in community arts, supporting people who often felt unheard, marginalised, or on the edges of things. Those years taught me the importance of meeting people where they are, listening without judgement, and honouring the quieter ways humans express their stories. That background still shapes my approach. I pay attention to the parts of you that might have been overlooked, misunderstood, or dismissed in the past.
Much of my work is with people whose lives have been touched by trauma or difficult early experiences, whether that shows up as anxiety, low self-worth, relationship struggles, emotional numbness, or a sense of being “too much” or “not enough.” You don’t need to have a clear label for what you’ve been through; we can explore that together.
If something in this speaks to you, you’re welcome to reach out for a brief, no-pressure conversation. It’s a chance to get a feel for whether we might be a good fit with no expectations, just a gentle first step toward support.
I am LGBTQ+ affirmative and value diversity in all its forms. Counselling isn’t about quick fixes, it’s a deeply human process of being seen, heard, and supported. My role is to walk alongside you, with steadiness and care, as you move toward greater freedom and self-understanding.

About me and my therapy practice
Maybe you’ve been managing on autopilot for too long, keeping up appearances while the weight inside quietly grows. I offer a calm, grounded space where you can slow down, be truly seen, and begin to make sense of what’s going on for you. We move at your pace, focusing on the parts of your experience that feel most alive or pressing right now, without judgment or expectation.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in community arts and volunteer coordination, supporting people who often felt unheard, marginalised, or on the edges of things. Those years taught me the importance of meeting people where they are, listening without judgement, and honouring the quieter ways humans express their stories. Practice description
Our sessions place your individual experience at the heart of the work. I offer a confidential space where you can safely explore whatever is troubling you, vwhether that’s past pain, current struggles, or future worries. Together, we work towards greater self-understanding, self-acceptance, and personal growth.
I come to this work with a strong sense of social justice. I am aware of how society can misunderstand, dismiss, or exclude people who don’t fit the mould. I believe that we’re all shaped by our life experiences and that some people are forced to carry much heavier burdens than others. But I also believe deeply in people’s capacity to heal, change, and flourish -with the right support.
Past pain doesn’t simply disappear when we ignore it. Like a broken limb that’s left untreated, we might adapt and carry on, but the injury remains, often hidden, but still affecting us. I have deep respect for anyone who chooses to face that pain, even when it’s difficult and the outcome is uncertain. My role is to walk with you through that process, offering care, presence, and unwavering support.
I believe in honouring difference, whether that’s cultural, social, physical, emotional, gender-based or simply the way someone sees and experiences the world. The UK is richly diverse, and I approach counselling with cultural humility and openness.
My first session
You don't need to bring anything other than your self. We may pay attention to the wider context of your life, from your relationships to your environment, because these shape how you experience the world and yourself.
We may draw on creativity in our work together, through metaphor, imagination, or simply exploring new ways to express your thoughts and feelings. I believe that gentle exploration can open powerful pathways to healing and self-understanding. Each person has a unique inner world and a personal way of making sense of life’s experiences and I will support you as you reshape the conditions of your life in ways that feel right for you.
Counselling can help you reconnect with your inner resources -your creative, intuitive, and decision-making self. As we work together, I’ll support you in making changes that feel meaningful to you, whether that means shifting old patterns, finding new perspectives, or moving toward a life that feels more authentic and aligned with who you are.

About me and my therapy practice
About Me and My Supervision Practice
My approach to supervision is relational, reflective and collaborative. I see supervision as a space to step back from the demands of counselling, think honestly about our work and develop greater awareness of ourselves, our clients and the therapeutic relationship.
My professional background has shaped the way I work. I began in community arts, using creativity to support autonomy, self-determination and healing within communities experiencing disadvantage. Since retraining as a counsellor, I have worked with the Samaritans, supported survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, worked as a specialist mentor for university students with ADHD, autism and mental health difficulties, and developed my own private practice.
These experiences have reinforced my belief that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Each client and practitioner brings their own history, identity, strengths, challenges and context. I am interested in the person behind the practitioner and in how our experiences, values, assumptions and emotional responses inevitably influence our work.
I am particularly influenced by person-centred and humanistic values, alongside an integrative and flexible approach. Reflective practice sits at the heart of my supervision, with curiosity, openness and critical thinking taking precedence over simply finding the “right” technique.
Counselling does not happen in isolation- culture, inequality, disability, relationships, organisational pressures and wider social expectations can all influence our work. Supervision offers an opportunity to explore these influences, question assumptions and consider different perspectives.
Ultimately, I see supervision as a space for reflection, learning, ethical practice and growth, while keeping the wellbeing of clients at the centre.
Practice description
My Practice – What You Can Expect From Me
I want supervision to be a space where you can bring the real experience of counselling rather than feeling you have to present a polished version of yourself. That includes uncertainty, mistakes, difficult feelings, ethical dilemmas and work that feels stuck, as well as successes and growing confidence.
I aim to offer supervision that is supportive but appropriately challenging. Psychological safety matters because I believe people learn best when they can think openly, but support does not mean simply agreeing with everything. Where I think challenge could strengthen your practice or benefit your client, I will offer it respectfully and collaboratively.
I am interested not only in what happened in a session, but in what was happening for you. We might explore your emotional responses, assumptions, the relationship between you and your client, or what you notice when you look at a situation from another perspective.
I see supervision as having three connected functions: restorative, formative and accountable. It provides space to process the emotional impact of the work, supports learning and professional development, and helps maintain ethical and responsible practice.
I also value multiple perspectives and critical thinking. I am comfortable with uncertainty and do not believe supervision is about the supervisor having all the answers. My role is to help you develop your own reflective capacity, professional judgement and confidence.
I hope you will experience me as grounded, open, curious and honest, someone who will support you, challenge you when useful, and create space to think freely without fear of judgement.
My first session
My First Supervision Session
Starting with a new supervisor can feel daunting, so I aim to make the first session relaxed and collaborative. You do not need to arrive with everything worked out, we can begin by getting to know one another and exploring what you want from supervision.
We will talk about your experience as a practitioner, the work you are currently doing and what has brought you to supervision now. You may already have particular clients, challenges or areas of development in mind, or you may simply be looking for a different kind of supervisory relationship.
I will explain how I work and we will discuss practical matters such as confidentiality, boundaries, frequency of supervision, record keeping and professional requirements. We can also talk about what helps you get the most from supervision and how you prefer to work.
Where it feels useful, we may begin exploring a piece of client work during our first session. I am interested not only in the client, but in you within the therapeutic relationship, what you noticed, what you felt, how you understood what was happening and what you are uncertain about.
You do not need to demonstrate competence or have the “right” answers. Supervision should be somewhere you can say “I don't know,” “I'm struggling with this,” or “I think I got this wrong” and know that we can think about it together.
The first session is also an opportunity for both of us to decide whether we are a good fit. I value openness and welcome feedback about what is or isn't useful.
My hope is that you leave with a sense that supervision can be a place where you feel safe enough to think honestly, supported enough to explore and challenged enough to keep growing.
