This may mean you have recently received a diagnosis, are undergoing treatment, are living with cancer as a long-term condition, are in remission, or are facing the uncertainty and anxiety of waiting for results. It may also mean you are caring for or grieving someone affected by cancer.
🎗️Cancer can be an overwhelming experience – emotionally, physically, and mentally.

If you’re ready, we can take that first step together.
My first session
In our very first session together, we’ll take things at a gentle, comfortable pace. If you’ve already completed the assessment form, I’ll refer to it as a helpful starting point — but if you haven’t, please don’t worry at all. We can simply explore things as we go.
This initial conversation is really about us getting to know each other. We’ll spend time talking about what’s been happening for you lately, what’s led you to seek counselling now, and what you’re hoping to find or change. It’s also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work, ask any questions you might have, and see if you feel we’re a good fit to work together.
Most importantly, we’ll begin to explore what matters most to you — your values, your hopes, and the areas of your life where you’d like to see more clarity or ease. My aim is to help you reconnect with your strengths, make sense of your experiences, and discover a way forward that feels not only possible, but also authentic and meaningful to you. We’ll take this journey at your pace, with warmth, curiosity, and compassion.

About me and my therapy practice
I offer counselling for adults from all backgrounds (online or face-to-face), with a specialist focus on supporting people affected by cancer and cancer-related anxiety. This includes individuals who have received a cancer diagnosis, are undergoing treatment, living with cancer as a long-term condition, are in remission, or are coping with the intense uncertainty and anxiety of waiting for results. I also offer counselling for partners, family members, friends, and carers whose lives have been impacted by cancer, as well as those experiencing grief and loss.
A cancer diagnosis can trigger profound emotional distress and anxiety. Many people experience fear, sadness, anger, shock, or a deep sense of uncertainty about the future. Cancer-related anxiety can show up as constant worry, difficulty sleeping, intrusive thoughts, panic, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others. You may feel pressure to remain positive or “stay strong” for loved ones, even when you are feeling overwhelmed inside. Counselling offers a confidential, compassionate space where you do not have to manage these feelings alone.
My role is to provide cancer counselling that is sensitive, supportive, and non-judgemental, allowing you to explore your emotions at your own pace. Whether your anxiety feels all-consuming or quietly present in the background, therapy can help you make sense of what you are experiencing and find ways to cope that feel right for you.
I work from a humanistic counselling approach, offering warmth, empathy, openness, and authenticity within the therapeutic relationship. This approach recognises you as the expert in your own life. Rather than giving advice, I work collaboratively with you, supporting you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences of cancer and anxiety, and to develop your own understanding, resilience, and coping strategies during an incredibly challenging time.

About me and my therapy practice
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and quietly struggling behind a brave smile, you’re not alone. When fear and self-doubt keep repeating “I’m going to mess this up,” it can drain your confidence and hope. I can help you feel heard, find calm, and discover practical ways forward.
What can I help you with?
I offer counselling for bereavement, loss, relationship difficulties, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and patterns that leave you feeling stuck.
I specialise in supporting people who are living with cancer, going through treatment, or caring for—or grieving—a loved one with cancer.
These experiences are deeply personal and can feel isolating, often affecting self-esteem, identity, and emotional well-being. Others may struggle to understand or talk about what you’re going through. I offer a space where you can feel heard, understood, and calmer. Together, we’ll navigate the emotional ups and downs at your pace. Cancer can be an overwhelming experience – emotionally, physically, and mentally. It can stir feelings of fear, sadness, confusion, anger, or isolation, and can sometimes make it difficult to recognise yourself or connect with others in the way you once did. You may feel pressured to “stay strong” for loved ones, even while you’re struggling inside. My role is to offer a safe, understanding space where you can bring all of your thoughts and feelings without judgment, where you can be wholly yourself.
What is my approach?
My approach is grounded, compassionate, and centred on your individual story. There’s no expectation to have it all worked out before starting therapy. If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or just in need of space to pause and reflect, we can begin right where you are.
My experience:
I have years of experience working with people of all ages and personal experience relating to cancer. If this speaks to you, you’re welcome to get in touch, and we can begin with a simple, no-pressure conversation.
Practice description
At Geraldine’s Therapy, I offer a gentle, compassionate space for people navigating the emotional and psychological impact of cancer—whether you are living with cancer, undergoing or recovering from treatment, or supporting or grieving someone you love. These experiences can bring profound emotional pain, affecting your sense of self, relationships, body image, and hopes for the future.
My aim is to walk alongside you with warmth, empathy, and respect, creating a safe space where you can explore your feelings openly and begin to find meaning, steadiness, and healing at your own pace.
My approach is humanistic and integrative, grounded in empathy and respect. I draw on counselling and therapeutic techniques to support you in expressing and processing experiences that can sometimes feel too overwhelming for words.
I understand that every cancer journey is unique—whether you are coming to terms with a diagnosis, coping with treatment side effects, living with uncertainty, processing loss, or rebuilding confidence and identity after trauma or illness.
With years of experience supporting people through change, illness, loss, and other issues such as anxiety, relationship problems, I offer sessions both in person and online for adults. I am a Registered Member of the BACP.
At Geraldine’s Therapy, I believe in empowering change through compassion—supporting you to rediscover hope, identity, and emotional balance, even through life’s most tender and challenging seasons.
Counselling is a journey, and every step you take—no matter how small—matters. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start; all you need to bring is yourself.
If you’re ready, we can take that first step together.
My first session
The first session is a gentle starting point where we can get to know one another and begin to explore what has brought you to therapy. It’s an opportunity for you to experience what it feels like to talk with me, ask any questions you may have, and see whether the space feels right for you.
I’ll also invite you to share what has led you to seek therapy at this point in your life and what you hope to gain from our work together. There’s no pressure to share everything straight away—we’ll move at your pace, and there’s no “right” way to begin. This session is as much about you getting a feel for the therapeutic process as it is about deciding whether I’m the right therapist for you.
You’re very welcome to ask questions at any point, whether about how I work, what therapy might involve, or anything you’re unsure about. I aim to offer a calm, open, and non-judgmental space where you can begin to feel safe, supported, and heard.
At the end of the session, if we both feel that we’re a good fit and you’d like to continue, we can arrange further sessions. There is no obligation to continue after the first meeting—it’s entirely your choice.
The first session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my usual rate of £60.
