About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to Tracy Ward Counselling,

You may want to make sense of things or feel more grounded, supported and able to move forward in a way that feels right.

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, and for many people it is the first step towards creating the change they would like to see in their lives. I work alongside you at a pace that feels comfortable, supporting you throughout your therapeutic journey for as long as you need. My approach is tailored to you, ensuring that the counselling you receive reflects your individual needs and experiences. I offer a compassionate, empathic and curious presence to help foster understanding, self-awareness and empowerment.

By exploring your thoughts and feelings you can gain greater insight and figure out what supports your wellbeing. We can also identify practical coping strategies that help you move forward with greater confidence and balance.

I offer counselling for as long as you need.

You are welcome exactly as you are.

Please feel free to get in touch, I offer a free 15-minute, phone call where we can discuss what has brought you to counselling as well as your hopes and aims. I can tell you about how I work and answer any questions that you may have.

Practice description

I mainly use the person-centred approach, this is rooted in humanistic psychology which is based on the view that everyone has the capacity for personal growth and change. I am drawn to the gentle and effective way of helping clients to feel liberated and to gain a sense of agency in their lives.

I will prioritise your needs and values in a non-judgmental space whilst providing useful insights as we go. Working collaboratively, we can create a trustworthy and supportive bond to aid in navigating through your challenges. Together, we can explore your lived experiences, thoughts, emotions and aspirations.

I can help you to understand root causes, develop coping skills, improve self-awareness and build healthier ways to manage.

I offer talking therapy and throughout our work, if helpful to you, I can include other methods of working. For example, somatic work (connection between mind and body), grounding techniques, mindfulness and creative work.

My personal and professional philosophy is that we are all of equal value, no matter where you are at in life, come as you are.

My first session

Beginning counselling or psychotherapy can be a powerful and transformative step. It offers a space for self-discovery, emotional healing and personal growth.

Our first session is an opportunity to begin building our therapeutic relationship. Together we will create a safe, supportive and comfortable space where you can start to share what has brought you to counselling. We may explore the challenges you are currently facing, the key issues you would like support with, and any background information or personal history that you feel is important to share.

During this initial meeting we will also talk about your expectations of counselling and how I can support you. We can explore your aims for therapy, what you hope to gain from the process, and the changes you would like to see in your life.

My aim is to provide a supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your inner world at a pace that feels right for you. Through this process, you can develop greater self-awareness and strengthen your mental and emotional wellbeing.

I offer therapy for as long as you feel it is helpful, and I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs. We will work collaboratively throughout the process to ensure that the support you receive is meaningful and beneficial for you.
