About me and my therapy practice

I offer a compassionate, reflective, and collaborative space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. I understand that beginning counselling can feel daunting, especially when carrying anxiety, emotional pain, or experiences that have felt difficult to share with others. My aim is to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel heard and supported without judgement.

My approach combines person-centred and psychodynamic therapy. This means we can explore both the challenges you are facing in the present and the deeper emotional patterns or past experiences that may be influencing how you relate to yourself and others today. Together, we can begin to make sense of difficult emotions and recurring patterns that may no longer feel helpful.

I work integratively, which allows me to adapt sessions to your individual needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. Some sessions may focus on your current relationships, emotional wellbeing, or life circumstances, while others may involve gently exploring earlier experiences and their impact on your sense of self.

Rather than offering advice or solutions, I see counselling as a collaborative process that supports deeper self-awareness, emotional resilience, and meaningful change. I believe growth occurs when we feel safe enough to speak openly, honestly, and without fear of judgement.

I have experience supporting clients with anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, emotional overwhelm, and unresolved trauma. However, you do not need to be in crisis to seek therapy. Sometimes people come to counselling feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure why they are struggling.

At the centre of my work is the belief that growth and healing happen through safe, genuine connection. My hope is that through our work together, you will feel more understood, more able to navigate life ‘s challenges, and more empowered to live in a way that feels fulfilling for you.

Practice description

I offer a calm, confidential, and non-judgmental space where you can speak openly and be met with compassion, curiosity, and care. I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel difficult. My aim is to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe enough to explore whatever is on your mind, at a pace that feels right for you.

Clients often come to counselling feeling anxious, low, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure why they are struggling, or perhaps continuing from previous therapy. Together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with greater understanding and self-compassion. Sometimes this may involve focusing on the challenges you are currently facing, while at other times we may gently explore how past experiences, relationships, or emotional wounds continue to shape your present life and sense of self.

I work in a compassionate and collaborative way, walking alongside you rather than directing you. I believe therapy is not about fixing you, but about helping you feel heard, understood, and more connected to yourself. Through this process, counselling can support deeper self-awareness and meaningful change.

I also have experience working within a trauma-informed approach, which prioritises emotional safety, trust, and stabilisation before exploring traumatic experiences in more depth. If trauma is part of your story, we will work carefully and sensitively, ensuring you feel supported within the sessions as we begin to make sense of what you have been through. There is no pressure to revisit difficult experiences before you feel ready.

Throughout our work together, we will regularly reflect on what has emerged in sessions and consider how these insights may help you navigate current challenges with greater clarity and confidence. My hope is that counselling helps life feel more manageable, relationships feel healthier, and that you leave therapy feeling more grounded, empowered, and connected to yourself.

My first session

I offer a complimentary 15-minute introductory phone call, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions and get a sense of how we might work together. I understand that finding the right counsellor is an important part of the therapeutic process, so there is no pressure or obligation to continue after this initial conversation.

If you decide to begin counselling, sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place weekly at the same time each week, helping to create consistency and stability.

Online sessions are held via Microsoft Teams, and you will receive a private link by email before each session.

Our first session will involve an initial assessment, where we can explore what has brought you to counselling, any difficulties you may be experiencing, and what you hope to gain from therapy. This is also an opportunity for us to begin building a therapeutic relationship and for me to understand how I can best support you moving forward.

I work with clients on both a short- and longer-term basis depending on your needs, and I offer open-ended therapy for those who would benefit from ongoing support and deeper exploration. Throughout our work together, we will regularly review how sessions are feeling for you to ensure the counselling continues to feel supportive, helpful, and aligned with your goals.
