About me and my therapy practice

Hi. My name is Catrin.

I'm a qualified psychotherapist, offering face-to-face counselling sessions in Penarth and online - in English or yn Gymraeg.

I have a Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling; a practitioner qualification approved by the BACP.

My counselling room is 9 mins' walk from Penarth train station, near Cardiff. It’s wheelchair accessible, and there is free on-street parking nearby.

I’m equally happy to provide counselling online.

Practice description

I practice counselling within the BACP's ethical framework, meaning my clients' safety, confidentiality and wellbeing are of the utmost importance to me.

Specifically, I practice integrative counselling for adults. There are different approaches to counselling, such as person-centred, psychodynamic or CBT. Integrative counselling is a flexible form of therapy that means I can draw on a combination of tools, skills and techniques tailored to your needs.

The Welsh word astud means 'attentive'; that is what I aspire to be with my clients. Whatever is on your mind, I will attend to you by listening to your experiences and feelings, and I will be your companion as we work towards your goals, side by side.

My first session

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel intimidating.

I offer a free, initial 15min phone-call to all new clients; an informal chat to establish the practicalities of what you're looking for and whether I'm a good fit for you.

If you feel encouraged, we'll book our first session together.

In our first session, we'll start by talking through what your expectations of counselling might be, what you'd like to get out of it and how best to work together. For some, that takes 10mins and for others it can take more than one session - we'll move at your pace.

As soon as you feel confident we're on the same page, we can begin.
