About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP-registered psychodynamic therapist, working online from Leyton, E10. I have a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and also have experience of providing emotional support to adults, through charities and community groups.

Areas I have worked with include:

  • Anger
  • Anxiety or chronic worry
  • Bereavement
  • Body image
  • Death anxiety
  • Depression and low mood
  • Disordered eating
  • Divorce/separation
  • Existential and spiritual issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Guilt and shame
  • Lack of confidence/self-esteem
  • Loneliness or feeling isolated
  • Panic attacks
  • Relationship issues
  • Sexuality and sexual identity
  • Social anxiety
  • Stress and overwhelm

My approach to therapy is psychodynamic, which means that the focus of our work is to try and access unacknowledged feelings and beliefs which may be influencing your thoughts, feelings and behaviour patterns.

Perhaps you feel like you're stuck in a cycle, repeating patterns of behaviour or relationships, and perhaps feeling out of control. Psychodynamic therapy can help uncover what may lie behind these patterns and can help you feel more in control of your life.

Practice description

Psychodynamic therapy is non-directive, which means that I do not lead the session in any way. Rather we discuss whatever is on your mind that day, in that moment. As we talk, we will make links between your past experiences and relationships, and what is happening currently in your life.

Bringing dreams to therapy can be a great way to begin to access feelings or aspects of yourself which are hard to acknowledge. Together we can explore the images and feelings evoked by the dream and relate these to your waking life.

My first session

I offer a free, 20-minute phone call to discuss how we might work together. I can explain in a bit more detail what working with me will be like, and you can can share what's led you to seek therapy.

It can be difficult to know where to start in your first therapy session, particularly if this is your first experience of therapy or you are returning after a long break. My starting point with all clients is compassion. I will usually begin by asking me to tell me about yourself, and you can start wherever feels most relevant for you. Whatever your past experiences or current life circumstances, I aim to offer a safe, collaborative space where you can come to know yourself better.

I know that reaching out and asking for help can feel really hard, and I take the trust you place in me very seriously.
