About me and my therapy practice

I offer a safe and nurturing space to explore your challenges and develop meaningful personal growth. I am deeply committed to each client's unique journey, combining professional expertise with a warm, empathetic approach.

I draw on theories from across the therapeutic spectrum to inform my work, which is underpinned by an intersubjective philosophy. I feel that the relationship we co-create, as client and counsellor, is often the most important part of the work. From here, we can explore challenges and experiences from a place of safety and trust.

I believe that counselling can be life-changing. At times it can be painful, exciting, thought-provoking, sustaining, frightening, enlightening, and a whole host of other things. I aim to provide a safe and open space where all your experiences are welcome. I work creatively and compassionately and our work together will be collaborative, with the exploration and understanding of your needs at the centre.

I trained at Matrix College of Counselling and Psychotherapy and hold a BSc in Integrative Counselling.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am committed to upholding their code of ethics and professional practice

Practice description

I practice Integrative Counselling, which draws on techniques from different types of therapy to create a tailor-made approach for each individual client. I find the integrative approach fits my own philosophy, as it recognises the importance of each person as unique in the way they experience and move through the world.

My first session

We start with a consultation call. This is a free 15 minute session, either over the phone or via Microsoft Teams, where we can discuss very briefly what is bringing you to counselling, and to arrange an initial session. After this, I will send you an intake form to fill in, which will ask for details such as your name, address, emergency contact and GP. All these details will be stored confidentially.

In the initial session we will further discuss what has brought you here and what you are hoping to gain from your time in therapy. You may have a really clear sense of what this is, you may have no idea at all, or you may feel somewhere in between. You may have questions you want to ask me, or you may just want to get into what is troubling you.

I will also have a few questions and points that I need to cover with you around safety and confidentiality, and we will discuss a working contract.

After this we will meet each at the same time each week for 50 minutes. Usually I work with an open-ended contract, and we will frequently review our work together. This gives you a chance to reflect on what is or isn't working for you in the therapy. It's also possible for us to work within a time-frame (for example, if you know you would like only 12 sessions we can plan for this together). My fee is £65 per session. I can offer some concessionary rates, so please do get in contact to discuss if cost is an issue for you.

Sessions are your space to bring whatever is coming up for you, where we can explore things together. I may bring in particular techniques or models that we could work within, or you may have a particular direction in which you want to go.
