About me and my therapy practice
I’m Kate, a person-centred, humanistic therapist based in Beckenham, offering online counselling to clients across the UK. I’m 50 years old, and my own life experiences have deeply shaped the way I work as a therapist.
As a single mum, I’ve faced many of life’s challenges — from navigating abusive relationships, supporting a child with mental health issues, and witnessing self-harm, to growing up in a dysfunctional family affected by addiction and poor communication. Coming from a mixed-heritage background, I understand the complexity of identity and belonging.
All of this once left me feeling lost and unsure where to turn. But years ago, I found myself in a therapy chair — and that’s where my journey of healing and self-discovery began.
If you’re feeling stuck, wondering why certain patterns keep repeating, or simply sensing that life could be better, I understand. My therapist didn’t “fix” me — but helped me explore what was going on beneath the surface, so I could understand myself and make different choices.
In our sessions, I offer a safe, calm, and non-judgemental space where you can talk freely about what’s on your mind — even the thoughts and feelings you might not feel comfortable sharing with friends or family. I’ll walk alongside you as we navigate your challenges together, at your pace, with compassion and curiosity.
I work with adults and young adults facing anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues, bereavement, and life transitions. I also provide compassionate support for women experiencing perimenopause or menopause, helping them understand emotional and identity changes during this stage of life.
If any of this resonates with you, or if you’re ready to explore why you feel the way you do and how things could change, why not give therapy a try?
I did — and I discovered that I was worth it.
Practice description
A Warm, Welcoming Space for You
The space I offer is designed to ease the anxiety or uncertainty you might feel when starting therapy. Walking into the counselling room for the first time—or meeting a new therapist—can feel daunting. My aim is to take away some of that pressure by creating a warm, calm and welcoming environment, where you can relax and begin to feel at ease.
I’m a BACP-registered, person-centred and humanistic therapist based in Beckenham, offering in-person and online counselling. Drawing on both my professional training and lived experience, I work in an open, caring and collaborative way, meeting you wherever you are in your journey.
Together, we explore with curiosity what’s happening in your life and what you’d like to change. There’s no rush—we go at a pace that feels right for you. From my own experience, I know that once you step into the therapy space, anything becomes possible. Therapy isn’t always about a quick fix; it’s often a gentle process of exploration, understanding, and finding your own path forward.
My first session
I believe it’s really important to find a therapist who feels like the right fit for you. Choosing someone to talk to is a deeply personal decision, and I always encourage people to take their time and explore what’s on offer. Just as I once did, I suggest you “shop around” and see who you connect with most — the relationship you build with your therapist is at the heart of the work.
To help you with this, I offer a free 15-minute Zoom call, where we can meet, talk through what brings you to therapy, and see whether working together feels comfortable. You can also ask any questions you may have about how I work or what to expect.
If you decide to continue, my sessions are £65 for 50 minutes, available both online via Zoom and face-to-face in my private therapy room in Beckenham.
I also have a limited number of reduced-rate spaces for students and those on lower incomes — please feel free to contact me if you’d like to discuss these options.
