About me and my therapy practice
Hello there! I'm Maegan and I am a fully BACP registered member and Level 7 qualified therapist with a specialism in supporting individuals who are navigating the complexities and challenges of life. My approach is straightforward, no nonsense and grounded in a strong understanding of human psychology. I am also fiercely compassionate and work in a very relational, humanistic and person centred way. I offer a considerate, non-judgemental space where we can work together to better understand your experiences and feelings, overcome challenges and create meaningful, lasting change. Having previously worked in Secondary education and being a mother of now four young adults- I have extensive experience working with adolescents and parents, with a profound understanding of the modern challenges we face - from both perspectives. I also specialise in working with Autism Spectrum Conditions and neurodiversity; I am very neuroinclusive. Other areas I work with include but are not limited to: Abuse, Addiction, Anger, Anxiety, Confidence and Self-Esteem, Depression, Gender issues, Identity issues, Intimacy, Life Stages (Matrescence and Menopause), Low Mood, PTSD, Relationships, Trauma, Wellbeing and Physical Health. Anything you feel is relevant - we can explore together.
Practice description
I offer both online and face to face sessions. During our sessions, we will meet and discuss anything you feel is important and of value. I am approachable and welcoming and I hope that you immediately feel comfortable and at ease as we begin to establish our therapeutic relationship.
I understand and appreciate that starting therapy can feel daunting and you may have questions or reservations and therefore, I offer a 20 minute free phone conversation to determine if we think we are a good fit. Once this takes place, we will arrange a time to meet either online or in person.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in the Person-Centred philosophy, which means I believe that we are all our own experts, and we all have unique needs, values and perceptions which curate our individual lived experience.
My first session
Our first session will of course feel a little different to other sessions because it will be new and unfamiliar. We will begin with contracting and a bit of a check in - to help you feel settled. Then, I will invite you to share anything you choose to share about yourself and what has brought you to therapy and what outcomes you are wanting.
My intent, is that I offer you a calm, confidential and safe space that allows for you to feel at ease and able to be open. By the end of the session, I hope you leave feeling heard, understood and well acquainted- so moving forward, our future sessions feel natural comfortable- and of value.
