About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified BACP Registered Cognitive Behavioural Therapist offering online and face to face therapy. I have a passion for helping people, and I believe that everyone deserves a safe space to be heard and understood. My approach is collaborative, empathic, time-limited and solution-focused. I am fully insured and have a clinical supervisor, as well as memberships with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I offer a free initial consultation to help you decide if I am the right therapist for you.

Practice description

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an evidence-based talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It is most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression but can also be useful for various other psychological and physical health problems.

CBT is based on the concept that our thoughts, feelings, behaviours and physical sensations are all interlinked and that negative thoughts can trap you in a vicious cycle. CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming issues in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller pieces.

Unlike some other types of therapy, CBT deals with the here and now and the current issues you are facing. It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.

My first session

After completing an intake form we will meet for our first session. This gives us the opportunity to discuss what's going on for you right now and also allows your therapist to find out as much about you and what your expectations are. CBT is a collaborative solution-focused and time-limited Therapy. With this in mind and as we get a better picture of your issues we can agree on goals and therefore timeframes for therapy.

Sessions last 50 minutes for both in person and online appointments. We offer a free 10 minute online or phone consultation prior to you beginning Therapy with us to make sure it's the right fit for us both. As CBT is a collaborative therapy being able to build a positive therapeutic relationship from the beginning and throughout is paramount to the success of treatment.
