About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced NHS, University and private counsellor and psychotherapist, and I offer both short-term counselling and longer term, open-ended psychotherapy, depending on your needs.
I work with all aspects of anxiety and/or depression. These feelings can very often (unconsciously) be linked to experiences in your past, for example, loss, family and/or relationship breakdown, medical/fertility issues, adverse childhood experiences, your feelings about yourself, self-esteem and identity, or difficulties in the workplace.
I have worked for several years as a Women's Health Counsellor in an NHS Hospital (working with issues to do with pregnancy and new parenthood, including loss). I have also worked for 10 years as a student counsellor in a performance arts conservatoire.
Issues that arise in my work are many and complex, and include gender identity, eating disorders, body dysphoria, perfectionism and procrastination, bereavement, suicidal ideation and self-harm. Through my experience of listening to clients with a diverse range of psychological and emotional difficulties, I believe that talking really does help.
I also work with and supervise therapists:
* Weekly psychotherapy
* Supervision
* Advice sessions on the theoretical/academic/emotional aspects of the training
If you would like to discuss an appointment, or ask any further questions, you are very welcome to phone or email me.
Practice description
I work from my consulting room in London N4 (Finsbury Park/Stroud Green area). I also offer occasional clinical sessions online. All supervision is on Zoom.
My aim is to offer a peaceful, warm and confidential setting, where you are free to speak in confidence without fear of being judged or criticised. Talking to a trained professional can help you to clarify your feelings, explore them in greater depth, and begin to find new ways to cope.
My first session
Before our first session I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation. This gives you an opportunity to briefly outline your current circumstances and enables me to consider if I might be able to help you.
In our first session we would further explore what brings you to therapy at this particular time.
We would discuss some of the practicalities and we’d have a chance to think about how you feel about us working together.
I would ask more direct questions than in ongoing sessions, to get a picture of you and your history as well as your life and relationships with family, friends, work etc now.
If we decide to work together, we would then arrange a contract of ongoing sessions, whether short term, or longer term/open-ended.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified, accredited and experienced counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor.
I consider supervision an invaluable part of the therapist/client relationship and aim to provide a containing space for the supervisee to reflect in depth on their work with clients, and to bring their struggles as well as their breakthroughs.
It is always a 'playful' space, where the supervisee and I can think together in a creative, curious way about the supervisee/client/supervisor relationships in question.
Supervision is a place to think openly and honestly together, and I would hope to introduce the supervisee to new perspectives as well as thinking about the important ongoing work taking place.
I will bear in mind ethical and professional issues in counselling, enable the supervisee to manage challenging or traumatic material and develop resilience, discuss any safeguarding issues and think about applying theory to practice. All the above gives the supervisee the opportunity to reflect on their ongoing development as a therapist.
My qualifications:
Certificate in Psychodynamic Supervision, Westminster Pastoral Foundation 2018.
MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Birkbeck, University of London 2012.
I have extensive clinical experience in a range of settings including primary care (GP practice), Higher Education (performance arts university) and the NHS (perinatal/women's health).
Practice description
Within the university setting I was Clinical Lead and Supervisor for trainee therapists.
I have worked with a wide range of client groups including young people, vulnerable adults with mental health issues and safeguarding needs, recovering addicts, and survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
My clinical practice is in person from my practice room in Finsbury Park; my supervision sessions are on Zoom on Thursday mornings.
My first session
I would offer an initial short phone call to establish your supervision requirements and to ensure that our therapeutic approaches are compatible.
Our first session would focus on what you are hoping to get from supervision, explore expectations and concerns, and to agree a working contract.
Our first session, and subsequent sessions, would be 50 minutes.
