About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Liam, a Welsh, gay man - thanks for stopping by.

I am a fully qualified and registered therapist who also enjoys singing, theatre, crafting, hiking, reading, pizza, plants, a good cuppa, and going to gigs.

For me, the most important part of therapy is the warm and open relationship between therapist and client. I like people, and I enjoy working with clients who are interested in developing a deeper understanding of themselves and how to make relevant, long-lasting change.

In my practice I work to empower you, rather than to diagnose or dictate advice on what I think you "should" do. My focus is on establishing trust and creating a safe environment where you feel valued and understood.

I have worked with a wide range of clients in clinical practice throughout Greater Manchester including those who are struggling with bereavement and loss, changes in identity, sexual identity, gender, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-harm, overwhelm and general unhappiness.

I find it particularly rewarding working with those who are in the middle of a transition in life, including young people (18-25) who are moving from school to university, university into work, or other daunting life events.

I also specialise in working with clients who are queer or LGBTQ+. I believe that our experiences as queer people are not generalised and are a complex web of intersectionality, so it is important to understand clients' experiences fully when working together.

I previously worked as a performer and am still a creative. I understand the difficulties of creative industries, with a vast experience of working in theatre, film and tv, and the creative industries. I bring this expertise into my practice.

Practice description

I offer an informal chat before our first session so we can get to know one another and understand our expectations of working together - so drop me a message to find out more. I predominantly work online, but can sometimes offer face-to-face sessions.

I find that working online to be equally as effective as in-person sessions. Clients have also told me about other benefits to online sessions, such as: flexibility, increased comfort by being in their own space, avoiding the stress of travel, and avoiding potentially noisy therapy spaces and waiting rooms.

My first session

Once you make an enquiry, we'll start with a 30 minute phone call to better understand one another and our expectations of the sessions together.

Following sessions will be 50 minutes online, using whichever platform suits you best.

I am able to offer concessionary rates so please do ask.

I look forward to hearing from you.
