My background
I have had a varied professional life which has given me a rich understanding of people from different cultures, situations and backgrounds, including the different challenges people face. Previously my work has taken me to over 50 countries, and I have worked with a number of charities helping disadvantaged communities across Bristol. I believe this diversity of experience informs my work as a therapist and I welcome difference warmly and openly.
Practice description
I am trained in Integrative Psychotherapy. This means I draw from different theories and perspectives and tailor my approach to what I think is right for you.
You may simply want a confidential and safe space to talk and tell your story. You may want tools, techniques and new perspectives to help you. Together, we might explore thoughts and feelings you’d like to change, patterns of behaviour, how the past is affecting your present, or how to plan and create the future you want. My hope is that our work enables you to move forwards in a way that serves you, your relationships and your day to day life.
Mind-body connection
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I studied and practiced yoga, and I have now been teaching yoga for over 15 years, working on a one to one basis, and in varied settings such as hospitals and rehabilitation centres, and for council health initiatives. This experience supports my psychotherapy practice, deepening my understanding of the mind-body connection and how powerful it can be when understanding, and overcoming emotional and psychological challenges.
If you wish, we can draw on tools from these traditions, for example, breathing techniques for stress, cultivating a more supportive relationship with your body, or learning to regulate emotions through awareness of physical states.
Get in touch
If this sounds like the support you are looking for, do get in touch. Please email with a little bit about yourself and what you are hoping for from therapy. If I feel I can help, we can arrange an initial call. If I believe your needs would be better met by someone else, I will be honest with you and recommend a trusted colleague who may be a better fit.
My first session
If you are interested in working together I offer a free online video call. This gives you an opportunity to see, hear and connect with me before committing to a paid session.
