About me and my therapy practice
As an integrative counsellor, my primary focus is you. Together we can make sense of difficult thoughts and feelings in a way that feels safe and collaborative, so you can move forward and truly make the most of your life.
How counselling can help
Life is rarely straightforward and we are often faced with a number of challenges – whether that’s to do with current circumstances, living with the legacy of past experiences and/or unresolved trauma, or a combination of these.
Whilst we may feel able to cope most of the time with what life throws at us, it can be helpful to talk things through with a trusted listener, in a safe, non-judgemental space – and this is where I can come in.
Sometimes all we may need is a listening ear. Sometimes we may need something deeper, like gaining insight into our own patterns of thinking or relating, or learning practical tools and techniques to manage overwhelming feelings.
I am here to explore those pathways with you, helping you move forward and truly make the most of your life.
My counselling approach
I have a flexible approach to my work, drawing on a number of different modalities of therapy and theories (which essentially means different approaches) to suit you, and I can also use creative tools to help you work through what is troubling you.
I have experience of working with clients presenting with low mood, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life stages and family issues, as well as those who identify as neurodivergent and those who have complex health needs.
Above all, my priority is you and what works for you.
A little bit about me
I am from Croydon and of British and Spanish descent; I spent my childhood years living abroad – experiences which have given me an appreciation of cultural differences, sensitivities and awareness.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors in nature, either walking or cycling, often in woodlands or on the downs, and spending time with family and friends.
Practice description
I am currently offering in-person sessions from a bespoke garden room in Cherhill (nr Calne), outdoor sessions in the form of walk-and-talk in and around Chippenham and Devizes, as well as online sessions (UK-wide). I can offer early morning or evenings slots on certain days of the week.
My outdoor therapy work is informed by my 10+ years’ experience of working as a ‘wellbeing in nature’ practitioner, across Wiltshire and Swindon, working with people who are living with a range of poor mental health conditions and supporting them to engage and connect to nature to improve their mental wellbeing. I have academic qualifications in natural sciences (BSc, MSc) and Forest School Leadership (Level 3) which help inform and shape my approach to outdoor work.
I strongly believe that the most important aspect of counselling is the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client. As such I offer all prospective clients a free (up to) 30-minute consultation during which we can get to know each other, discuss your main issues and what you would like to gain from counselling, and see if we are a good fit for working together.
If you’re happy to proceed after this initial consultation, my sessions are 50 minutes at the agreed price, and for an agreed number of sessions which can be reviewed.
I offer a small number of concessionary rates for clients who are unemployed or on a low income.
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from Wiltshire College University Centre (CPCAB) and am currently undergoing further training in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I am a registered member of the professional body British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and as such follow their ethical guidelines for my practice. I am fully insured and outdoor first aid qualified (for outdoor work) and use regular supervision to ensure my practice is safe, ethical and meets the requirements of my clients.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
