About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Vicky.
Life can feel overwhelming at times, especially if you’re used to coping on your own or supporting others. You might be experiencing anxiety, struggling with low self-esteem, or finding family and relationship difficulties hard to deal with.
You may be looking for support to help you feel more like yourself again, or simply for a space where you don’t have to manage everything alone. Now may be the time to focus on you.
Whatever brings you to counselling, I will meet you with a warm, compassionate and respectful welcome.
I often work with people who appear to be coping on the outside but feel overwhelmed, anxious, low or disconnected on the inside.
How I work
My own experiences have shaped not only who I am, but how I work as a counsellor. I believe therapy isn’t about fixing or diagnosing, but about creating a safe, non-judgemental space where you can feel truly heard, understood and accepted.
I work collaboratively and at your pace. I won’t assume that I know what’s best for you, and I won’t tell you what to do. Instead, we work together to explore what’s going on for you and what you need.
I work with adults, offering in-person and online counselling in private practice. Alongside this, I volunteer for a local low-cost counselling service and have previously worked for a national bereavement charity.
Across all of these settings, I have seen how the therapeutic relationship is central to effective counselling. Feeling understood and accepted can make a meaningful difference, and I place great importance on building a trusting, supportive relationship where change can gently take place.
Practice description
What will the sessions be like?
I am a person-centred counsellor, which means our sessions are led by you. You choose what feels important to talk about, and we work at a pace that feels right for you. This can be especially helpful if you’re new to counselling or unsure where to start.
My role is to offer a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. I will listen carefully and aim to understand your experience from your perspective.
I am honest and open in my responses, and at times I may gently challenge you, always with care and with the intention of deepening understanding and supporting change.
Therapy isn’t always easy. Talking about difficult feelings or experiences can sometimes feel uncomfortable, particularly if you’re used to coping alone or putting others first. Many people find, however, that having the space to process things with the support of a counsellor can bring relief, clarity and greater self-acceptance.
Everyone’s experience is unique, and I will do my best to understand yours.
Where I work
I offer in-person counselling from quiet, comfortable rooms in Hove, and I also provide online counselling sessions.
