About me and my therapy practice

Having had issues with my own mental health in the past, I am passionate about helping people who are struggling and who don't know who to turn to.

I know how hard it is to wake up in the morning with a feeling of low-level dread before you even get out of bed, wondering why you find it so hard when you used to be able to do so much more.

Maybe you’re fed up of being the one everyone turns to for help, but not having anyone who will listen to you and understand what you’re going through.

You could be on the edge of a life transition, where the future looks scary and you seem to have lost your sense of identity, unsure what is next and how to cope with this uncertain future.

You may be feeling broken inside, and barely managing day to day.

If any of this sounds familiar, then together we can look at how you would like to make things more manageable and I can help you find the tools to find yourself again and build your self-esteem.

I had a 20 year career in the police where I specialised in child protection and supporting victims of sexual abuse. I decided to build on my experience of supporting survivors of child abuse and historic & recent sexual abuse, by training to be a counsellor.

I have worked with individuals facing stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and bereavement, among other issues.

I offer face to face therapy in a private room, where you can come and talk to me about your struggles, away from whatever issues you are dealing with.

Practice description

I believe that you are the expert of your life and my aim is to help you find the solution to what is troubling you, by listening without judgment, and gently helping you explore your thought patterns and any past experiences which may still be impacting you.

Together we can discover where you’d like to be and the best way to get you there. We will go at your pace and you don’t have to talk about anything until you are ready.

As your counsellor I will listen to you with empathy , helping you to understand your problems better and explore how you want to move forward in a way that feels most suitable for you.

In your initial sessions, we'll explore what is troubling you and work together to see the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. Most of my clients find they feel lighter and less burdened within the first month.

Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.

My practice is based in Camberley, providing a safe, confidential and comfortable space for you to talk openly and explore your thoughts and feelings.

For those who enjoy being outside in nature, I also offer outdoor therapy. Some people find it easier to talk about difficult topics whilst they are walking alongside or sitting beside someone rather than face to face.

I’m a qualified counsellor and member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and am trained to work in an integrative way, using a range of approaches to suit your needs, including person-centred and psychodynamic.

I offer short term and long term counselling, person-centred and psychodynamic, outdoor therapy, online and telephone counselling, and in person therapy.

My first session

I understand that reaching out can be difficult, and so I offer a free 20 minute introductory telephone call, so you can decide what counselling with me might be like and see if you think we’re a good fit.

This gives you the opportunity to discuss what brings you to counselling at this time and what you hope to achieve from the therapy.

It gives us both a chance to get a sense of one another, for me to explain how I work and for us to decide if I am the best therapist for you.

If we both feel we can work together we can then agree the best way forward for you.
