About me and my therapy practice

I support clients struggling with stress, anxiety or depression. I also work with people experiencing bereavement and grief, including anticipated loss, as well as people navigating life’s transitions and changes, whether chosen or unexpected.

I have a particular interest in working with people who have experienced traumatic events, and in understanding how difficult or overwhelming experiences can affect our sense of safety, relationships, emotions, and connection with ourselves and our bodies. I aim to create a therapeutic relationship where you can develop a greater sense of safety, understanding and choice as you explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

My practice is evidence-based, drawing on the best available research alongside clinical knowledge and, importantly, your individual experiences, preferences, values and goals. I describe my therapeutic approach as assimilative integration. Clarkson’s Integrative Relational Model provides my core framework, while I selectively draw on ideas and interventions from other therapeutic approaches and theories when these are clinically relevant to your needs.

Practice description

My understanding of trauma, anxiety, stress and depression is informed by perspectives on nervous system regulation, the Window of Tolerance and Polyvagal Theory. I use these as frameworks for thinking about experiences of safety, threat, arousal and regulation. This can help us consider how difficult experiences may affect us physically, emotionally, and relationally, and how their effects may continue to show up in the present. My work with bereavement and loss is informed by contemporary theories and research on grief. I recognise that grief is not a linear process and that people experience and adapt to loss in different ways. There is no single way to grieve, and therapy can provide a space to explore what your experience of loss means for you. Attachment theory helps me understand relational patterns and experiences, including the importance of a secure base and felt safety.

My aim is to provide a safe, compassionate and supportive space where difficult experiences can be explored and understood without judgement. Together, we can explore new ways of coping and work towards greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and a stronger sense of safety and balance.
