About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Kitty. When things feel overwhelming and you feel like you've somehow lost yourself, I'm here to help you find your way forward through the heavier seasons.

You might be experiencing anxiety, low mood, grief, relationship difficulties or a period of change. Perhaps things just don't feel 'right'. Whatever brings you here, you are welcome as you are.

I'm an integrative, person-centred counsellor, which means I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I'll meet you where you are and we'll work together in a way that feels appropriate for you. I bring gentle curiosity and compassion as well as creativity to the work.

I will never tell you what to do, how to feel or who to be. I'll support you in exploring what feels meaningful, helpful, what you value and what your path forward might look like. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work, I aim to create a space where you feel able to talk without judgement or pressure from me.

I welcome clients from all backgrounds, identities and experiences. I aim to work in a way that is respectful, inclusive and mindful of how our identities, backgrounds and life experiences can shape the way each person experiences the world.

I also recognise that the traditional counselling framework doesn't work for everybody. If shorter sessions, breaks, adjustments or a different way of working would make counselling more accessible or supportive for you, we can discuss what's best for you.

Practice description

What I can help with

I often work with people experiencing:

~Anxiety, worry and overwhelm

~Depression and low mood

~Bereavement, grief and loss

~Identity and self-esteem

~Relationship difficulties with partners, family, friends or ~colleagues

~Stress and burnout

~Feeling lost, stuck or disconnected from yourself

How we might work together

In our work together, we may explore your thoughts, feelings, relationships, values, behaviours and life experiences.

My aim is to help you lift the fog and find a clearer picture, making sense of your experiences, processing difficult emotions, developing ways of coping, and reconnecting with who you are and what matters to you.

We'll work at a pace that feels manageable for you, and focus on what feels most relevant to your life.

Online counselling

I provide online counselling across the UK via the secure video platform Google Meet.

Being online means you can have your sessions from a space where you feel comfortable, perhaps with your pet nearby, in comfortable clothes and with a cup of tea if you wish. For some people, being able to access counselling from home makes it easier to create the time and space they need for themselves.

Qualifications & experience

~PGCert Low Intensity Psychological Interventions

~MA (Hons) Psychology

~4 years of experience working in NHS mental health support and talking therapies

~2 years of experience providing counselling

My first session

Free 20 minute initial consultation

Choosing a counsellor can feel daunting, especially when you're already struggling. You don't need to know exactly what you need from counselling before you get in touch.

I offer a free 20-minute consultation, giving us an opportunity to talk a little about what's brought you here, what you're looking for and whether you feel we'd be a good fit to work together.

During the consultation, there is opportunity to:

~Explore what's brought you to counselling

~Ask any questions about how I work

~Talk about what you're hoping for from counselling

~Get a sense of what working together might feel like

~Discuss anything you may need to help counselling feel accessible

There's no obligation to book counselling with me after the consultation. It's important that you feel comfortable with the person you choose to work with.

First session

The first session may be taking time to explore what's happening for you, what you're finding difficult and what you'd like from counselling. We might talk about your thoughts, feelings, your experiences and relationships and any previous experiences of therapy that may help us understand what works well for you.

You can go at your own pace, and we can find a place to start that feels important or most relevant.

Before your first session, I'll send you some information about counselling and working online, along with our therapeutic agreement. This covers things such as confidentiality and cancellations, and gives you an opportunity to consider any questions or concerns before we begin.

I will ask you to complete a form and store your information securely.

If you have a disability, health condition, are neurodivergent, or have other needs that might affect how you engage with counselling, you're welcome to talk to me about these. We can explore ways of working that are best for you.
