About me and my therapy practice
My approach is relational, meaning I place great importance on building a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship. I put your needs first and tailor our work together to suit you as an individual, recognising that everyone’s experiences and goals are different.
I work collaboratively and see therapy as something we do together. I welcome feedback and encourage open conversations about what feels helpful or unhelpful, and I would never push an approach that does not feel right for you.
A key part of my work is empowering clients, supporting you to develop insight, self-confidence, and the ability to make choices that feel meaningful and authentic to you.
Practice description
When you come to therapy with me, you can expect a calm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you are free to be yourself. I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting, so I work gently and at a pace that feels right for you.
I offer sessions fully online and by telephone, giving you the flexibility to choose what feels most comfortable and accessible. Whether you want to talk about something specific or are unsure where to start, we can explore things together in a way that feels safe and manageable.
I see therapy as a collaborative process. I welcome your feedback and encourage open conversations about what feels helpful or unhelpful, so we can adjust our work if needed. I won’t push you into anything that doesn’t feel right for you.
My aim is to support and empower you to develop greater understanding of yourself, build confidence, and make choices that feel meaningful and authentic to you.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute telephone call before starting therapy. This gives us a chance to briefly talk about what has brought you to counselling, ask any initial questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you. There is no obligation to continue after this call.
If we decide to go ahead, the first full session is a space for us to get to know each other and to begin building a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. We will go through the practical aspects of counselling, such as confidentiality, boundaries, and how we will work together (contracting), and I will welcome any questions you may have.
We will also talk about what has led you to seek therapy and what you hope to gain from it, while allowing the conversation to unfold at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There is no pressure to share anything before you are ready.
Throughout the first session, I will check in with you and encourage open communication, so that therapy feels collaborative, clear, and supportive from the very beginning.
