About me and my therapy practice

Hello. My name is Giuseppe(he/him). The main focus of my work is men's mental health. I work specifically with men because I believe most men put off counselling until they reach crisis point. Admitting you need help is hard, especially when society says you should be strong and not show any weakness.

I work with men in an attempt to rewrite these negative messages, in order to show the positive effects of being vulnerable. Being able to talk about difficult emotions and experiences, allows things to come out slowly. Rather than building everything up and coming out in unhelpful ways.

Outdoor Counselling

I offer sessions outdoors in nature and online. I believe that working outdoors adds a dimension to therapy, that can make the experience easier. Having someone walk beside you outdoors, as opposed to sitting opposite you in a room can lift expectations. Being outdoors and moving through nature helps to stimulate the mind and conversation.

Silence in a room is at times uncomfortable but outdoors is an opportunity to listen to what is happening around you. For men in particular working outdoors can open up what therapy can be and how to act in that environment. If you have bad links with school or the workplace maybe you don’t want to be in another indoor space, when talking about difficult things.

Practice description

Working With Men

The thought of sitting in a room with a stranger and opening up is too much for some people. Just finding a counsellor who is right for you is a big job. I want to try to break down the barriers that a lot of men face when thinking about therapy. It’s a big deal to feel comfortable with another person so we will go at your pace.

Therapy is a space for you to work through things without feeling like a burden. It’s a place to be honest with yourself and what you need. It can also be challenging and frustrating. I work with men because I understand the barriers that men face when thinking about counselling. The voices that say, “you should be strong, push it down, don’t show emotion”.

How I Can Help

We will work together to create a space where you are comfortable to talk about what you are experiencing. The time is yours and I will follow your lead to see what you want to work through. My role is to help guide where we go and to at times point out things you have said or done, to try to see things from another perspective.

It’s important we are as honest with one another as possible. Let me know if a particular avenue is productive or not. That way you will get the most out of the sessions and progress in a way that is appropriate for you.
