About me and my therapy practice

With a genuinely compassionate and empathic way of being, I aim to offer a safe, judgment-free, and relaxing space where we can build a trusting therapeutic relationship and work together towards healing.

My primary training is an Msc in Clinical Mental Health Counselling. I have also completed training in Internal Family Systems (Level 2), Mindful Self Compassion, Neuroscience and Trauma, and Yoga for Health. My perspective on life and my work are informed by each of these modalites, along with 25 years of learning from books, mentors, and my own inner work.

I truly see each person who comes into my "office" as a unique individual, and I will tailor our work to meet with you right where you are. 

Practice description

Beginning the therapy/counselling process can feel daunting, so my hope is to nurture an environment that feels warm, welcoming, and safe enough for you to begin to explore your inner world. 

For 25 years, I have been working with young people and adults in a variety of settings, including voluntary programmes, foster care, community mental health, and private practice. I have sat with people dealing with all manner of struggles and transitions and my experience is that people are mostly trying to figure out how to navigate this human experience. 

We are "wired" as human beings to avoid pain and seek out pleasure, and often times this programming is what increases our suffering. In my work I gently offer an invitation to be with our experience with tenderness and curiosity, to turn towards even the "parts" of us that tend to push away, distract, or dissociate us from our pain. I believe that if we can do this, we can develop an awareness of the origins of our survival strategies, bring healing to old wounds, and find new ways of being in the world. New ways to navigate life to make it one worth living. 

My first session

I offer a free 15-30 minute session to figure out if we are a good fit for each other.

Our first 55 minute session will be an opportunity to explore what is bringing you to therapy and your hopes for our work together, as well as what I would hope to offer to help you move towards your goals.
