About me and my therapy practice
Hi. I’m Nina. I am a BACP Registered Integrative Counsellor who works with adult clients to help bring about therapeutic change. In a session with me, I offer a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental experience. I am here to help you find a way out of the “stuck” feeling you may have going on at the moment. Sometimes you might have an idea as to what is holding you back, and sometimes you might have no idea! Maybe you don’t even feel stuck, but you just want to talk to somebody about how you feel. That’s ok! We can work together to help you through this.
A bit about me…
Many years ago, I was going through a really tough time and I decided to try out counselling for the first time. I was amazed at how helpful I found it. This led me to start working in mental health services and eventually train as a counsellor. I did my Level 2 certificate in counselling skills and loved it! I also did my Level 3 certificate in counselling studies. And from then on, I just kept going…
I now hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and am currently doing further training for my Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I also have a certificate in online and telephone counselling, and a certificate of proficiency from the BACP.
In the past, I have worked within an NHS counselling setting, and a few private counselling organisations.
I have worked with different issues and emotions such as self-esteem, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, overwhelm, issues with control, feelings of shame, guilt, anger, frustration, fear, “people-pleasing”, not feeling “good enough”, “finding a voice”, setting boundaries, trust issues, sadness, grief, trauma, pregnancy, motherhood, severe pregnancy sickness (Hyperemesis Gravidarum), miscarriage, abortion, sexual issues, medical issues, being a carer, disability, neurodiversity, job loss, faith, sexuality, attraction, identity, divorce and relationship breakdown, attachment issues, fear of the “unknown”.
Practice description
I am trained to work intergratively. This means that I can draw on several different theories and approaches in our sessions together, and I tailor the session to you. In this way, we can work flexibly to find the best way for you. Sometimes we might talk about the past to discover how you came to be the person that you are today. Sometimes we will look at the present – what is going on for you right now? And sometimes we will look at creating goals for the future, and breaking these down to be more manageable. The beauty in the way that I work is that it is completely centred around you and what you bring to the sessions, and the ways in which you are comfortable working with me. Some of the approaches I may use include person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, or other.
I offer open-ended therapy, meaning that there is no strict limit on the number of sessions you can have with me. We will work together to find a number that is right for you.
What I can offer you:
- Private & confidential counselling sessions
- Can be done online from the comfort of your own home*
- You choose the amount of sessions that feels comfortable for you
- Intergrative therapy - incorporating person-centred therapy, psychodynamic approaches, CBT, and more...
- Helping you to move forward
* Face to face sessions may also be available near Dartford, Kent (please ask for further details)
My first session
The first step would be to arrange a free initial phone call. This is not a counselling session. More like an information gathering session (for the both of us)! During the call, you can ask me any questions you have about my counselling and therapy services, and I would ask you some questions to gain a better understanding of what it is that you are looking for. I would also do something called an "assessment". This is not a test! It is simply a few questions I ask to gather as much information as I can, in order for me to assess whether I would be the right counsellor for you. This is also the opportunity for you to see if you would want to work with me as well!
