Features

Availability

I currently see clients in Berwick-upon-Tweed primarily on Friday afternoons. If you’d like to check my current availability, please feel free to get in touch.

I also offer a free 15-minute introductory call before arranging a first session.

About me and my therapy practice

I work integratively, with Transactional Analysis as the main framework that informs my work. This means I don’t expect you to fit a particular way of doing therapy; we’ll work out together what feels most useful for you.

A lot of my work involves both understanding what is happening and helping you move towards something different. We might look at what has been difficult for you and how you tend to respond when things feel stressful or uncertain. We can also explore the expectations you carry, the ways you’ve learned to cope, and what keeps pulling you back into the same thoughts or feelings.

I take an active and collaborative role in sessions. I’ll ask questions, share what I’m noticing and introduce ideas or practical strategies when I think they might help. I also use creativity and imagery where it feels useful, particularly when talking about something alone doesn’t quite capture the experience or another way of looking at it might help something make more sense.

Sometimes the work is more reflective, sometimes more practical, and sometimes we may approach something in a more creative way. The aim is to help you understand yourself better while also working towards feeling calmer, less stuck and more able to trust your own feelings and choices.

Practice description

I offer individual therapy for adults aged 18+ at Bab’yama Wellness Hub in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, at a regular time where possible.

Before arranging a first therapy session, I offer an optional free 15-minute introductory call. This gives you a chance to ask questions, tell me a little about what has brought you to therapy and get a sense of whether working together might feel right.

The therapy rooms at Bab’yama are upstairs and there is no lift access. If you have accessibility needs, please get in touch before arranging a session and we can talk through what may work best.

I also offer therapy in Morpeth and online across the UK.

My first session

The first therapy session includes an intake assessment. This gives us time to build a fuller picture of what is happening for you, what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to be different.

I’ll ask about your current difficulties, your emotional and physical health, any previous experience of therapy and things that may be important for me to understand about your life at the moment. We’ll also talk about relevant relationships and background, significant experiences or losses, and the ways you currently cope when things feel difficult. Some questions are also there to help me understand any safety or wellbeing concerns and make sure I can work with you appropriately.

You don’t need to have everything worked out before the first session. We can take our time getting a sense of what feels important to you, what you’re hoping for from therapy and anything you want me to understand about your situation.

The assessment gives us a starting point, but it doesn’t lock us into a plan. As we get to know each other and the work develops, we can keep coming back to what feels useful for you and what you want to be different.
