About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Elodie, and I am a counsellor with a Level 6 Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which means I work in accordance with their ethical framework and engage in regular clinical supervision.
My work is deeply relational, client-led, and grounded in the here and now. Alongside this, I draw on a range of therapeutic tools and theory to support you with everyday challenges, while also gently exploring how past experiences may still be shaping your present.
I am also a qualified death doula, and I feel comfortable working with issues around death, dying, and grief. Death is often a taboo subject in our society—and sometimes even in the therapy room. You are welcome to bring it into our work whenever you need to (and I may bring it up too).
I offer an inclusive and affirming space for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and relationship structures.
You do not need to censor parts of yourself here. We can talk openly about whatever feels important to you, including topics that may feel difficult or taboo.
I work in a relaxed, warm, and non-judgmental way. I believe that coming to therapy takes great courage, and that everyone deserves to be heard.
Therapy can support you in developing understanding and compassion for yourself—often the doorway to meaningful change.
Practice description
I offer an initial 20 minutes phone call (free of charge) to see whether I might be the right therapist for you and if we could work together. If we're both happy to go ahead, we will have a 50 minutes session at the normal rate, where you can really see how I work.
We can decide to work together for a set number of sessions, or be more open ended. Both have advantages and please remember you are in the driving seat. If you ever decided to stop therapy, it would be absolutely fine and we could work together towards a planned ending.
My first session
During our phone call, I will give you the space to talk about what is bringing you to therapy and ask me anything you need to know about my background and how I work. I might ask you a few questions about your current life and support system. It is to have a sense whether I would be the right counsellor for you or not.
During our first session, we will talk about contracting (but you won't have to sign anything) so you are aware of the therapeutic framework containing our work together.
It will be very much like a regular session, where you can have a full experience of what working with me will be.
