Fees & Availability
I offer in-person counselling in Sheffield, alongside online and telephone sessions across the UK. I work with adults seeking both short-term and longer-term therapy.
Therapy works best when sessions are attended regularly. I usually recommend weekly sessions, particularly at the beginning, as consistency can help us build trust, maintain momentum and make the most of our work together. If your needs or circumstances change, we can review this and agree what works best for you.
I offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute online consultation. This gives us an opportunity to talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy, what you're looking for and whether working together feels like the right fit.
I currently have a limited number of appointments available on Thursdays.
Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £55. Payment is by bank transfer and is due 48 hours before your appointment to secure your booking.
My fees are reviewed annually, and you'll always receive advance notice of any changes.
Cancellation policy
More than 48 hours' notice – no charge.
24–48 hours' notice – 50% of the session fee.
Less than 24 hours' notice or missed appointments – the full session fee is payable.
Getting in touch
You can contact me by telephone or email. If you reach my voicemail, please leave a message together with your preferred method of contact. To help protect your privacy, I'll only return telephone calls if you've asked me to do so.
I aim to respond to all enquiries within 48 hours.
About me and my therapy practice
Donna (she/her), a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist working with adults.
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming. You may be the person everyone else relies on, yet inside you're exhausted, anxious or no longer quite yourself. Perhaps you've been trying to cope on your own for a long time, finding it difficult to talk about what's going on, or you're looking for a different way forward.
You might be struggling with anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, the impact of illness or loss, or a significant life transition. Perhaps you're trying to balance the demands of work or study while everything feels like too much. Whatever has brought you to therapy, you don't have to work through it alone.
I offer counselling and psychotherapy for adults in Sheffield, as well as online and telephone sessions throughout the UK. Whether you're looking for short-term or longer-term therapy, we'll work together in a way that responds to your individual needs and what you hope to gain from therapy.
I hold a First Class BSc (Hons) in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling. My work is rooted in person-centred values and draws on Gestalt therapy, attachment theory and psychodynamic thinking where helpful. We'll pay attention to what's happening in your life now, how you relate to others and how you see yourself.
We may also explore how earlier experiences and relationships continue to influence how you feel, think and relate to others today. Developing an understanding of these patterns can help you make sense of present difficulties and open up possibilities for change.
I work in a trauma-informed way, recognising that difficult or traumatic experiences can affect a person's sense of safety, relationships and ways of coping. We'll approach your experiences with care, working collaboratively and at a pace that feels manageable for you.
Practice description
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I hold a First Class BSc (Hons) in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling, and my counselling experience includes private practice, the NHS, community organisations and a specialist women-only service.
Since 2017, alongside my private practice and other counselling roles, I have supported people affected by breast cancer. This has given me an understanding of the emotional impact that diagnosis, treatment and life beyond cancer can have on identity, relationships, body image and sense of self.
My wider professional experience includes working in supported living, mental health and community alcohol support services. I have supported adults experiencing complex life circumstances, including problematic alcohol use, homelessness, learning disabilities and recovery following acute mental health difficulties. My community work has also involved working alongside NHS and statutory services.
These experiences continue to inform my work as a counsellor and have deepened my understanding of the challenges people may face and the individual strengths and resources they bring. At the heart of my practice is a belief that each person's experience deserves to be approached with compassion, curiosity and respect.
Professional Standards
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with its Ethical Framework.
I am also a Graduate Member of the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (SPTI) and work in accordance with its Code of Ethics and Conduct.
I receive regular clinical supervision, undertake ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) and hold professional indemnity insurance.
Privacy
I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and process personal information in accordance with UK data protection legislation.
A full Privacy Notice is provided before therapy begins and is available on request.
My first session
Beginning Therapy
Before the first session, I'll send you a short intake form. This provides some practical information and helps me gain an initial understanding of your current circumstances.
During the first few sessions, we'll begin to develop a shared understanding of what has brought you to therapy, explore experiences or patterns that may be contributing to your current difficulties, and begin to establish how we might work together.
From there, therapy may focus on a particular issue over a shorter period or develop into longer-term work, allowing more time to explore deeper-rooted experiences and patterns. We'll review our work together regularly so that we can consider what's helpful, what may be changing and whether therapy continues to meet your needs.
