About me and my therapy practice
Therapy can be life changing. It functions on the investment of trust in the relationship between us. We call this the 'therapeutic alliance' in the therapy world. It's an experience of trust that becomes the bedrock that change is built on. It's a process of care, which offers an ongoing support, versus a cure, which can sometimes miss the person experiencing suffering.
Some of the most common issues I work with are anxiety, depression, relationship issues (past or current), anger, guilt, shame, trauma, addiction and suicidal thoughts.
Pain, joy, uncertainty and everything in between are to be expected in the process of therapy. I endeavour to engage you with my heart, humility and humour. I am ready and willing to meet you in the difficulty of facing the root of your troubles.
Not sure how this all might work? As a relational integrative therapist I draw on a number of therapeutic interventions and models of therapy to best help you understand yourself and your issues:
Relational & Psychodynamic: Exploring how early relationships and unconscious patterns influence your life today.
Embodied: Tuning into the body's wisdom, as emotions and experiences have a physical basis.
Humanistic: Honouring the unique person-to-person relationship we build in therapy.
I aim to adapt our sessions to your needs, validating your experience. Do you need to be given more space for things to surface? Or could a thoughtful question or challenge help you to get in touch with what's happening? I will check in with you and invite you to be curious about our sessions as we work.
Making each session of value to you is important to me. I balance this with my awareness and skill to tune into your own pace.
Located: Bristol Stokes Croft Practice Rooms BS2 8QR & Online.
Fees: £55 - £70 per 50 minute session, income dependent. Some low cost slots available.
Practice description
My key aim is to help you experience more agency in your inner world: to notice, name, and relate to your feelings with greater understanding.
By doing so, you can respond rather than react – developing more choice, self-trust, and flexibility in how you meet yourself and others.
My first session
During our consultation I will ask some questions about you, what’s brought you to therapy and your history. You will also have a chance to find out a little about me and the way I work too. This session is designed as a chance for both of us to see if we have a sense of connection that would be a good starting point for therapy. This can often be a gut feeling, which I will encourage you to share with me.
If we decide we aren’t a good fit I can help find a referral for you, or pass on further resources that may be of use. It's important to me that you find the correct support.
