About me and my therapy practice
I am a person-centred pluralistic counsellor with a background in art and film study. My therapeutic approach could be described as gentle and exploratory as well as non-directive which means you decide the content of our sessions. This way you can explore and connect with what is truly meaningful and important to you. While reflecting and piecing together the present moments, connections to the past can emerge, these can offer the opportunity to challenge or integrate parts and experiences that were left unresolved or unsettled. I approach these moments with particular care and respect, being mindful and protective of all the differences and contradictions that live within us individuals. I am originally from Italy and offer counselling sessions in both English and Italian. Having lived between two cultures, allowed me to develop a deep appreciation for the ways culture and belonging can impact our lives and bring this awareness into my practice.
Practice description
At the centre of my work is the therapeutic relationship itself: a space to feel heard and nurture a stronger connection to yourself and others. By recognising that each person is unique, I approach our sessions with curiosity and warmth, allowing clients to disclose their material at their own pace and time. This can be valuable in recognising what is your settled goals in therapy as well as giving us the chance to develop a trustworthy relationship. Therapy with me is collaborative and it is focus on what is meaningful and manageable to you. While developing a deeper understanding of the ways of relating that may be influencing your life and wellbeing, I also recognise your strengths and capacity for change. Creativity also plays a role in my practice. At times, talking alone may not fully capture experiences or emotions. Where appropriate, I may draw on images, metaphors or other creative tools to help deepen understanding and access feelings that can be difficult to express. These methods are always offered gently and collaboratively, with no expectation that you engage in them unless they feel helpful to you.
My first session
I offer a free initial 20 minutes conversation. This can be done on Zoom or over the phone to gather a first impression and discuss your expectations of therapy or any questions you may have. If you decide to move forward, I will send a document with few questions to cover essential information as well as a brief contract sheet. This can be completed before or during our first session together.
