About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Katrina, I am a person-centred counsellor, based in Midlothian, Scotland.
Life comes with different challenges and experiences, and these can affect us in many ways. Whatever brings you to counselling, I am here to listen to you and understand your experiences and what they mean to you. I offer a gentle and non-judgemental space for you to explore at your own pace, whatever you want or need to.
Counselling Approach
My counselling is about the relationship we build and supporting you to find the way forward that is right for you. I do not come with a set agenda or any things you ‘should’ do, my aim is to provide a space where you can be yourself as you are, free from the judgement and expectations of daily life. Everyone is welcome, and I hope that you can feel understood and accepted within our sessions, I am an LGBTQIA+ and neurodiversity affirming counsellor.
I currently work online or via telephone from my therapy room near Edinburgh, allowing you to access counselling from the comfort of your own space.
It is important to find a counsellor who is right for you, I offer a free consultation so you can see if we are a good fit to work together. There is no obligation from this consultation as I want you to find the support that is best for you.
Please feel free to get in touch using the e-mail or number above or you can go to my website and contact me there.

Experience
Most importantly, I work with the person first, we are all unique and even shared experiences can affect us very differently. Whatever the reason you are seeking counselling, you will be met without any expectations about how you ‘should’ feel about your experiences. I believe you are the expert in your own life, and I aim to support you to explore this however is right for you.
I have a range of experience within counselling and from my previous role as a teacher. Through this role I witnessed the positive impact of counselling which led me to train as a counsellor. I work with clients who seek counselling for many reasons, such as anxiety, work-related stress, low self-esteem, domestic abuse and trauma.
Counselling for Domestic Abuse and Trauma
I have significant experience supporting clients who have experienced domestic abuse, providing a safe space for women to process their experiences and find ways to move on that are right for them. I work with all aspects of trauma and abuse and am committed to supporting you to process and move on in the way that is right for you.
Counselling for Teachers and Caring Professionals
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked as a teacher both in the classroom and within support for learning. I understand the pressures of working within a high stress workplace whilst fulfilling a caring role and the impact this can have on our wellbeing. I offer counselling to support you to process the ways your role affects you and find your way forward.
