I am currently taking new clients on for both face to face and online counselling. Please get in touch to arrange a no obligation initial chat.
This will involve us beginning to get to know one another and to explore your motivations and expectations for seeking help at this stage in your life.
If you feel comfortable after talking to me during this initial call we can then schedule our first session.
About me and my therapy practice
My aim is to provide you with a safe non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable and free to disclose whatever is troubling you.
Your sessions are a private space to explore whatever issues and concerns you choose to bring to the session and we will regularly review your progress to ensure that your objectives are being met.
My role is to support you and allow you the space to process your current emotions, thoughts, past experiences, fears, anxieties etc. all of which may be combining to subconsciously affect you in your daily life. By exploring these I will help you to increase your own self awareness so you can know yourself better and understand the reasons that lie behind the emotions that you experience.
Practice description
I work from a convenient town centre location in Central Farnham.
I also offer online counselling sessions.
In addition to my private work, I work as a counsellor and Social Prescriber within the NHS. I also work one day a week, in a school environment supporting young people as a counsellor.
My core training is described as integrative, which means that it draws from a number of theoretical approaches which include Person-Centred Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.
Person Centred Therapy involves me providing empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard in a safe, non-judgmental environment. This allows you the space to explore your own feelings and thoughts as ultimately you are the expert of your own experience. This approach can lead to greater self-awareness and understanding
Psychodynamic Therapy explores unconscious feelings, past experiences, and their influence on current behaviours and relationships in order to promote change and emotional development. It involves us working together to become more aware of the psychological influences and patterns that contribute to difficulties, often by discussing childhood/past experiences.
Whatever your motivations for seeking counselling it's important to understand that it is OK to not have all the answers, the fact that you are looking at this shows that you have a desire to learn more about yourself. Self-awareness is never a destination, it is a constant journey of self-discovery and I aim to help you on this path.
My first session
I offer a free 20 min appointment either online or over the telephone where we have the opportunity to get to know one another and you can ask any questions about the way I work. This will also be an opportunity for you to give me an idea about what you are seeking from therapy and we can see if I am the best person to help you with this.
