About me and my therapy practice
Hi. You might be looking for counselling for the first time, thinking about coming back to it, or considering a different therapist.
Whatever’s brought you here, you may not be sure what you’re looking for. Here’s a little about how I work.
I’ve worked for many years in educational and charity settings, supporting people with a wide range of issues, including identity, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties and trauma. I have experience of working with people across different ages and backgrounds, including adolescents, neurodiverse clients and different cultures.
At times, life can feel overwhelming. You might be dealing with loss, relationship difficulties, anxiety, feeling low, or being hard on yourself. You may feel stuck, unsure what to do next, or simply need a space where you can talk things through.
I offer a calm, empathic space where we can talk openly, without judgement. We’ll work together to explore your thoughts and feelings, and how they may be affecting your day-to-day life. Together, we can begin to notice patterns that may link to earlier experiences, and how these can shape your relationships now. Developing this awareness supports you to have a better understanding of yourself and more choice in how you live your life.
I don’t rush to offer reassurance or quick solutions. Instead, we take time to understand what’s going on for you, working together at a pace that feels manageable and allows trust to build.
Whether you’ve had therapy before or not, we can begin with whatever feels most important to you right now.
Practice description
I work from a psychodynamic perspective, with have a flexible and open approach. My background in education, mental health and creative therapies has shaped a way of working that can draw on different perspectives. I welcome the use of creative or expressive ways of working where this feels helpful. I have extensive experience supporting teenagers and young people, as well as adults.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. You don’t need to arrive with a clear goal; part of the process is making sense of what has brought you.
If you are considering getting in touch, you are welcome to contact me with any questions you may have about starting therapy at suzanne.wintz@outlook.com
My first session
Finding the right therapist is important.
When you get in touch, I offer a free 15-minute telephone call. This gives you the opportunity to share what has brought you to therapy and ask any questions you may have about how I work. It also helps us get a sense of whether we might work well together.
If you decide to go ahead, we will arrange an initial one-hour consultation. This first meeting is a chance to explore in more depth what has brought you to therapy, along with any relevant background. It also allows us to meet and think together about whether ongoing work feels right and how I can best help you.
Ongoing sessions are 50 minutes and take place weekly. These sessions are less structured, allowing space for exploration as our therapeutic relationship develops.
