About me and my therapy practice
Well done for reaching out for help. No matter how confusing or overwhelming things are, I am here to support you. Let’s figure it out together.
Welcome to my profile. My name is Vasilina and I am a counsellor and psychotherapist registered with the BACP. I have also completed all taught and clinical practice components of the doctorate training in Counselling Psychology at City University. There, I am finishing my research, with a focus on grief and trauma after bereavement. If unfortunately this has happened in your life, I can provide a space to make sense of this incredibly complicated experience.
I completed both my BSc (Hons) in Psychology and my Post Graduate Cert in low intensity CBT at University College London (UCL). I have also been involved in research during my time at UCL, with publications in the field of eyewitness memory.
Over the last 7 years I have worked with a diverse range of people and difficulties in charities, the NHS, staff workplace support, and university counselling. I have developed my own integrative approach, where I combine different therapy models to adjust to your individual needs.
With my basis in Person Centred Therapy, I provide empathy, unconditional acceptance, and complete presence to build the space where we can explore your concerns and combine research-informed ideas, tools, and techniques that best support your needs and goals.
I work with people who feel stuck in their personal growth, who know something needs to change but they don’t know what or how. I also work with people who face specific difficulties, such as anxiety, or need to cope with significant life events, such as loss.
Therapy often involves matching one’s sense of identity to who you truly are. My role is to hold you firmly and with care, be fully present to observe and make sense with you, witness and support you as we find yourself together.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me and I look forward to meeting you.
With care,
Vasilina
Practice description
My practice is exclusively online at the moment through video sessions and I only work with adults. I work affirmatively with LGBTQIA+ clients, and I uphold an anti-discriminatory practice.
I can support you with a specific difficulty you may be facing, or equally with a general sense that your wellbeing needs some care. Life does not always fit into categories and the difficulties you experience can be more complex and multi-layered. You do not need to have figured out exactly "what's wrong" in order to come to therapy. This is something we can do together.
Please note that I am not able to work with addictions, psychosis, active domestic violence, active eating disorders, personality disorders, or individuals requiring urgent care. If you contact me about these difficulties, I will only be able to signpost you to relevant sources of support.
My usual fee is £50, however I offer a reduced fee of £40 per session to clients who are counselling and psychotherapy trainees, students or NHS staff up to Band 5 level, or come from an NHS/Charity referral. Please note that this must be agreed prior to our first session, and I require proof of your student or NHS status.
I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO number: ZC037563) and any information that I keep is subject to the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 18) and United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation UK-GDPR.
