About me and my therapy practice

Thank you for visiting my profile. Take your time to review my details below and if you feel I am a good match for you, please reach out to book a free consultation. There we can meet each other before you decide to move forward.

My name is Vasilina and I am a counsellor and psychotherapist registered with the BACP. I am also at the end of my doctorate in Counselling Psychology, where I have completed all taught and clinical practice components and I am finishing my research.

Over the last 7 years I have worked in various mental health settings, including charities, residential support, the NHS, and university counselling services. In the last years I have focused on developing my own integrative approach. I combine different therapy models and theories to adjust to your individual needs, rather than sticking to a one-size-fits-all approach when more often than not, this doesn’t work.

I keep my basis in Person Centred Therapy, which believes that each individual is the expert of their own experience and can fulfil their potential given the right conditions- those of empathy, unconditional acceptance, and complete presence of the therapist. From there, we can build our work together and introduce ideas, tools, and techniques that would best support your needs and goals. I draw these from research-informed modalities I have trained in, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, schema therapy, and existential psychotherapy.

In my clinical practice I have observed that whatever the original issue people come to therapy for is, it often involves exploring and redefining one’s sense of identity to better match who they truly are. My role during this process is to hold you firmly and with care, to be fully present to observe and make sense with you, to witness and support you as we find yourself together.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me and I look forward to meeting you.

With care,

Vasilina

Practice description

My practice is exclusively online at the moment through video sessions and I only work with adults.

I have worked with a diverse range of populations and difficulties, and I am able to support you with issues such as anxiety, stress, phobias, trauma, depression, relationship problems, work issues, life changes, bereavement, adjustment difficulties, but please see the list below for more details.

Equally, life does not always fit into these categories and the difficulties you experience can be more complex and multi-layered. Or you might generally have a sense that your overall wellbeing needs some care and support. You do not need to have figured out exactly "what's wrong" in order to come to therapy. This is something we can do together.

Please note that I am not able to work with addictions, psychosis, active domestic violence, active eating disorders, or individuals requiring urgent care. If you contact me about these difficulties, I will only be able to signpost you to relevant sources of support.

My usual fee is £80, however I offer a reduced fee of £60 per session to clients who are counselling and psychotherapy trainees, students or NHS staff up to Band 5 level. Please note that this must be agreed prior to our first session, and I require proof of your student or NHS status.

I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO number: ZC037563) and any information that I keep is subject to the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 18) and United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation UK-GDPR. See Information Commissioner’s Office: https://ico.org.uk and BACP’s Privacy notice https://www.bacp.co.uk/privacy-notice.
